Number one son turned 10 today. Both boys are a little sniffly...normally not enough to keep em home. But you have to understand...it was gonna be 67 degrees and sunny..and B's whole class was being kept in for recess cuz someone broke a pencil and that person wouldn't cop to it...and he came home crying...and T kept coughing...and it was T's birthday...and we needed to get him out shopping for a bike with my parents..and..and..aw heck. I kept em both home and we had a blast. Went to Mickey D's playland for lunch, then to Toys R Us so gma and gpa could get T a bike. Then we all went out for pizza for dinner w/ his aunt and uncle, too. Great day. Tied a record for temp, btw. 67...only to be matched back in 1966.
I've no idea who this kid is, but he wanted me to take his picture at Mc Don's. (btw..his guardian is the one with the headphones on sitting nowhere near the slides in the pic of T. No wonder the kid wanted my attention.)
This is the best reason for this post. This was my mom's idea of wrapping clothes she got for T. Just LAY newspaper over em, and tape it down. Now, we're all startin to slack when it comes to wrapping...but when you can't even wrap the newspaper AROUND the whole present..well..it's a new low..or a new high, I'm not sure. Yes, I am. It's a new high.

Tell T, that even Travis County says happy b-day. I remember that I wanted a bike with pegs. I got one and never actually used the pegs, (OK a few times) but I would have never taken them off. There may be something strange about that boy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If he doesn't turn out like 90% of the kids nowadays, that'd be a good thing.

Hmm..first grown-up Ben will hafta go back 30 yrs. That's what's weird about the whole deal. Why did the lite flash when and make the plane crashed (thought that problem was fixed? & wouldn't they havew seen it on the island?). Or did someone fiddle w/ the time wheel again.

Well the plane crashed on the other island I think. (Still..they should have seen it, but I'm just saying.) Cuz Sun and the Capt. took the boat over to the main island. No idea how/why they stayed on the plane, tho, and Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sayid somehow got beamed out of the plane to the main island.

Wow, the Beatles show was great!! Check out the website if you're interested. Basically they're 4 Beatles impersonators that do a show that starts with their beginning years and it takes you through the hippy days, etc. They were fantastic! In the first 5 minutes I actually got a lump in my throat a few times...it was so weird..like you were actually seeing them. We were far enough so that you couldn't see their faces well, so that helped. They played all the music and sang themselves and they were great. Good stuff!

Speaking of concerts, I'll be happy when SXSW is gone. The ER has been packed all week. I think the worst (especially for the night shift) was St. Patricks Day where there were drunks for St. Patty's Day and drunks for SXSW, AND we have a rodeo going on in Austin too. Thank goodness it's all the week of Spring Break because at least that way a lot of the students are out of town.

Did you send in your pick for "We Surround Them"? The "new" car has a decent CD player, but it doesn't pick up radio since the antenna is broken. I'm considering jerryrigging an antenna, but half the car's jerryrigged anyway. But it runs well, and that's all I really care about. But since the radio doesn't work I've been going through talk radio withdrawal for about a month. I streamed Rush the other day and today I was in the van for awhile (without Carmen, she hates talk radio) so I caught the tail end of Hannity and about an hour of Savage. Everytime I listen to Hannity I remember how much of a lockstepper he is. It's really irritating, but he has no real competition here in Austin.
Anyway, I could care less about "the gaffe heard round the 'special' world". I think that had it been Bush, the Shrivers would be clamoring for his impeachment or resignation. But with that said, the 'right-wing' needs to shut up and let it go. There's plenty of real issue they can go after him on...like mortgaging the future of our children on crap like 'green' energy.
I tried really hard to watch 'The Golden Compass' with an open mind, but kept seeing the anti-religious agenda. I feel like it was VERY powerful. It's just the first leg of the series, but I don't feel very good about it. Like I said, I was really trying to be open, but there were a lot of things that were anti-God. The movie had a lot of potential, but in the end, it was poor to average.

Speaking of talk radio..I found a local Christian station and I've been tuning in now and again cuz I like this one guy on there. He's got a nice voice and a nice way about him. I've heard some good debate. So the other day T asks me to turn it to the "religious station" and I asked him why and he said "it's a nice break from politics". Ha! I said "yeah but I'm listening to music right now", and he said he liked hearing people talk instead.
I think I created a future talk radio junkie. Maybe not so future.

Every time I clean the fish filter, when I put it back in, the motor won't start. I have to hit it. (Tony said, "smack it like you smack me...upside the head and hard!" Lol..I hope he doesn't say stuff like that in public..someone might believe him.) Anyway, I can't get it going right so I'm off to buy a new filter. Arg! Then to Costco for a bday cake! With GC, the demon thing bothered me. Basically your soul is called a 'demon'. Now I'm cool with the soul being on the outside and existing in the shape of an animal, but calling it a demon is bad. Then there's the Magisterium. It's essentially like a religious government that controls everybody. Everybody is forced to do what they say but the Magisterium does whatever they want. Then there's Mrs. Coulter (I'm not kidding, that's her name) played by Nicole Kidman. She's an evil female dog that does whatever she wants and tells the girl that some people like her know what is best for themselves, but everyone else doesn't.
Then there's dust. The description of dust (not the dust in your homes) is essentially the same as sin. The Magisterium wants to suppress the 'truth' about dust. The Aurora Borealis is composed of 'dust' and is a passageway to different universes, including ours.
Here's what I took away and what I see as the agenda that was covertly being pushed:
Religion is bad and when combined with the power of government is evil. (I do agree that a relgio-fascist government is bad, but religion in general is portrayed as bad which I don't like)
Sin is not something to avoid, but something to embrace.
All blondes named Coulter are evil.
Demons are not inherently good or evil but some are good and some are evil.
When people tell you not to do things for your own good, they are lying and trying to control you.
But other than that, it was entertaining. It won't be on my list of recommended movies.

No, I didn't bowl. Ben got strikes his first two frames. Not usin bumpers! I took a pic of the screen. He got a 102. Once the kids got tired, it started looking more like billiards..bank shots off the bumpers.

Omg...have you guys seen the tv ad for the Smart Mop? It's this groovy mop that's super absorbent and doesn't drip. The best bit is when the guy mops up some pop he pours on the floor and goes, "..and in these tough economic times, you can just ring it out in a glass and it's ready to drink all over again!" LOL!! I think at that point, I'd pass on the pop and just have a glass of water!
Never heard a that mop (gonna hafta compare it w/ the Swifter). BUT, we did buy a euro sweeper (broom) at the Home & Garden Show and it's the t*ts. Best broom we've ever had. great for gettin dog hair off the couch as well.

Rainy day tooday. But I'm happy to report that the days of the boys having to take boots, snowpants, hats and gloves to school everyday so they can go out to recess are OVER! (At least the snowpants and boots, they're wearin hats tday.) That is such a pain.

Oh great, we get to hear American Idol kids mutilate Motown music! The thing with that genre is that it's very soulful. I have a pretty decent singing voice, but I have zero soul. It's hard to muster..ya either got it or ya don't. Actually the first kid on tnite (from Kalamazoo, btw) is doin pretty well.
