When you go into the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, there's no flash photography allowed. And they reeeaally mean it. I was getting a little frustrated with the Constitution security guard. My flash was off, but my teeny tiny focus light popped on before the picture took and he was trying to tell me how to block it with my finger. I didn't mind blocking it, but for some reason he wanted me to use my right hand and I just couldn't maneuver it while taking the picture. I would use my left hand and he kept saying, 'just use that finger'. Let's just say this was a tremendous waste of every one's time.

You know, seein that big mural of all the Founding Fathers kinda got to me. I really wanna go see that some day.
What a great experience for your kiddos.
You get in trouble w/ that camera a yours alot, eh?
Yeah, I guess it kinda does. That being said, D's camera would reset to auto flash mode...it went off and we got sneered at before we went in, and he got scared and tucked it away. So at least I could get some. I haven't learned enough about how to take really cool up close pics, but I've been happy with what I've gotten so far. (That pink flower on the side of my blog I took, too. Thought it turned out nicely.)
I was all about the kids. Really, it was for them. I wanna take them back, but I think it was a really good trip if we don't make it.
Oh, and my total souvenir totals are as follows....5 bookmarks, 3 fridge magnets, and 1 key chain.
Now...I know what you're thinking. Getting a key chain is pretty dorky. But it's not, cuz check this: it's from the Air and Space Museum, it's SOLAR powered, and it flashes my name (Rita), and it's pink! Sa-weeet!
Ahhh...technology. Actually sounds neat.
I'm a fridge magnet person too. Whenever we're anywhere near souvenirs, that's the first place I go.
How's the knee ol' man?
Having a hard time starting a new post. There's so many pictures, I wanna share em all. Hard to choose.
Better. Actually, it's more the tendon next to the knee. Still icein.
Bein as young as ya feel ain't so good today.
I'm so excited. Forecast through Sunday is awesome. Spring is springing!!
We got rain all day yesterday and I noticed on TWC that the radar showed it was coming from the east. The east? Strange. So I did what any parent would do and called for the boys to come see the radar. They were all "ooohhhh". Ha..I'm raising dorks, aren't I?
Btw, Ben got flipped off yesterday by another 1st grader.
I just finished the chicken noodle soup I made yesterday, and realized I never put chicken in it.
Martha Stewart strikes again.
Vegan noodle soup?
Those 1st graders, they're such cards.
Ok, I'll admit I sometimes show my kids radar stuff and such. They're response is usually to call ME a dork.
R> Those 1st graders, they're such cards.
Lol..I'm still laughin at that.
Well you are. I'M not, cuz when I do it, it's cool.
The weird thing is, the kid apparently said "the h word" when he did it. Dumb kid. Can't even tell someone to p*ss off properly. Maybe in 2nd grade he'll get it right.
I agree with Reck. I really like the painting of the Founders. That's up there with my favorite paintings.
