So I'm watching all the coverage on Michael Jackson passing away today. It's kind of interesting how, as the night goes on, it's getting more fantastical. Now, don't get me wrong...he was some kinda talent, and I do find it sad...way too young. And IF he was indeed not guilty of the kiddie piddling, then it's possible he was just a child like.. (albeit, overtly strange), character. I just find the coverage of these types of things interesting. I just heard someone use the term "other worldly". Is he callin M.J. an alien? Ya know, I hadn't thought of that before now, but since they brought it up....
Ooooh! Just saw the clip of the infamous "baby dangling" episode.
Not his finest hour.
Then someone was talkin about how no one can moonwalk like he did. That's possible, tho I've seen some folks do a pretty mean moonwalk. I just did it in my kitchen. Heck, I'll bet even Reck can do it! (Ok, I'd actually pay money to see that.) It was pretty cool when he did it for what I think was the first time at the MTV awards that one year. (Not Reck, Michael Jackson.)
Anyway...thoughts on M.J.?

I was just reading you guys' comments on fb. I'm up in the air about whether or not he was guilty of the kid thing. I don't claim to know all the details of that case from which he was acquited...but what always bothered me, is the number of kids he did spend time with, that had NO problem with him at all. And then there's the fact that he was filthy rich, and so weird, that it made him a pretty easy target. I'm not sure..but part of me thinks he was a child himself mentally and emotionally..probably stunted by his bizarre upbringing..and it's possible he was just weird and not a pediphile. He always seemed pretty asexual to me.
I don't know. There's no telling. First, anyone who let their kids sleep over at MJ's ranch needs to have their head examined. That said, there were just too many incidents, too much that made me say: "He probably did it." Obviously though, there's no way to know for sure.
When you talk about his talent, it was once a generation. Who do you put on his level when you talk about musical impact? Elvis and the Beatles. That's probably it. Maybe (that's a big maybe) Frank or Ray. But I don't think they're in the same league.
I grew up with Thriller and Bad. So the part of me who really enjoys his music is saddened. But IF HE DID IT, I don't feel a bit sad. That's why I feel indifferent. Kinda the way I feel about Farrah Fawcett.
We all have our time. I just want to be right with the Lord when mine comes. For THAT, I do feel sad for him, Farrah, Ed and everyone else who is probably not right with the Lord.
Yep, I think you nailed it..and I'm sure most people feel the same way. I was really surprised to see the number of people on Facebook who were REALLY sad about it. Just didn't move me that much. Part of it might be because he hasn't been around that much...unless you count court.
I watched a lot of the coverage with Tony and told him I was his age when Elvis died, and that this was as big, so he'd probably always remember it, as I remember the day Elvis died. (That might be because my brother found out first and told me.. and I didn't believe him, so he bet me 5 bucks. Doh!)
I never was a MJ fan.
He sure APPEARED guilty, but we'll never know.
The world always finds people to elevate to messianic heights (think BO). Instead the world should be puttin their trust and (praise of) in Jesus Christ; he's the REAL King.
