Picked Tony up from camp today..no, no pictures..totally forgot my camera, both dropping off and picking up. Oh well. It was a little strange picking him up..he looked so big! Which means one of two things. Either,
a. he just looks big, cuz I've been looking at Ben all week, (who, by the way, had the opposite of a summer camp experience this week, seeing 2 doctors. One, to get a vaccine booster shot, and one to cut a wart off his knee.) Or,
b. he is big, and I just don't notice.
He was a little shell shocked himself. I think for a 10 yr. old to be away for 5 days in a strange place, with no one he knows, probably felt like he may have well been in Egypt. But, boy did he have a blast...said he would have stayed a second week if it were an option. He really seemed to take to it. I watched him say goodbye to some boys before we left, and it was so sweet..givin em little hugs. When we got home he went outside for something and came back in muttering, "I gotta get used to this". I asked him "get used to what?" and he said "this house." Ha!
I really think it was great for him and it seems like he feels a little more grown up having done it. (He mentioned the "day campers" not being "experienced" campers. Ha.) He probably needed that..being the first born and a bit of an atypical boy, it was probably beneficial. I think it was a real boost of confidence for him.
Oh, and he said he learned a new word for "poop", and that's always useful.

Sounds like it turned out better than you hoped. Really proud a him; he's got Texan potential.
Yeah, I think maybe it did! Thanks.
I can actually justify my fire tonight. It's 60 and breezy right now. Windows open and fire..mmmm...
60 and breezy. This has been the hottest summer here in a few years. I think it dips down to about 82 around 5 in the morning. I'd love to turn on the fireplace though. Ah, November where are you?
I'm glad he had a good time at camp. What kind of camp was it? Ryan turns 10 in a few months and we're considering putting him in Boy Scouts. I should have more time this fall to be more involved. I'll be going back to school full-time and only working a few days a month. (if the Lord says the same) I'm looking forward to being able to do more camping/fishing type stuff with him. We also got our Texas State Parks Pass last weekend, so we'll be able to go to more parks more often.
It's unseasonably cool right now..it's not usually like this.
It was a YMCA camp. We tried to get him interested in Boy Scouts cuz I think it's right up his alley, with all the outdoors stuff, but he doesn't wanna do it.
Good luck with your schedule this fall..sounds great!
Didn't realize it was a YMCA camp. Scouts would be fun for him, but be warned, it requires ALOT of time. Major commitment, scountin.
Glad to hear about school Nest. Lookin forward to that first book.
Im lookin forward to Nov as well, means turnin up the a/c to 70.
Bubba just called us, he's in Nevada at Lake Mead on a house boat w/ a friends fam; lucky kid. But he deserves it.
Bubba? Is that McB?
Fun!! I've never done that, but I know a number of people that have done it in Kentucky. They say it's a BLAST!!
Yep, Bub is the McBoy.
