We went slushing!..er...sledding!
I was going to post this and say we were a few days too late...the snow had melted. Now, I can also add that we were a few days too early, as we just got a good 6 or 7 inches of the white stuff. Our timing is impeccable.

That's the way it goes I suppose. We're supposed to get some manana, which means we won't. Actually, we'd kill for yalls snow melt stuff.
The hill was pretty awesome, tho. I think I've mentioned before, we have an empty lot a couple doors down, that's like a drainage field or something that suffices nicely for a sledding hill. This one required getting in the car, but it was really big, and it has stairs up the side and a lighted gazebo at the top. Oh, and they put hay bundles along the side so if you hit the sides, you don't render yourself unconscious! Nice, eh?
Sweet!
I lived at the top of a hill in CT. There were plenty of places to go sledding which was nice. That place looks good. Steep, but not too steep. We're supposed to get snow, don't know if its supposed to stick, but they've been wrong every time they said it'd snow this year. We've gotten plenty of rain and 38 degree weather though. I think 30 and snow feels much warmer.
We're supposed to get maybe between 1/2 inch and 2 inches (depending on how close to the coast in Houston) as well. Maybe in my lifetime it's snowed over 1 time in a season, it's happened once or twice, maybe 3 times at the most.
K, boys...waitin on snow totals!
It looks like we're SOL here on getting our 2nd. snowfall of the year. It's cold enough, but it seems that the moisture has gone off to the East.
I did hear during the day that it was snowing in Austin, though.
We did get snow Stan. I'd say we got about 1/2 and inch but then it turned to rain. There is one tiny spot in front of our house with a little snow left. That'll probably be gone tomorrow.
Well we're gettin enough for all of you. Doesn't wanna seem to stop...the roads are a mess!! No snow days ahead, just a constant flurry..but man, did I mention the roads? We just came home and there are police and rescue trucks everywhere.
Really, really pretty, tho.
Zip..zilch...nada.
There was snow in Huntsville (which is about 90 miles NorthNorthWest of Houston) as well. As usual, we're too close to the coast for much of a chance of snow (the snow in Austin came down as rain when it passed through Houston.)
I must say, I feel like I'm in Linda's mind as I know she's got be thinking this is strange about how it's *NOT* snowing somewhere. :-)

Where are you, specificly? I don't recall ever knowing that. I know Nestor is in Elgin (and if he would invite me to Elgin for a trip to Taylor, I would probably accept), maybe you live in Corpus Cristi? ;-)
Yes, Stan..it IS strange. It's winter for the love of pete.
Got a kid down today. First time we've had someone kissin the porcelain god in I don't know how long. I seriously can't remember, we're very lucky. While B is throwin up this morning, all dressed, hair combed, ready for school, he looks up at me and says, "do you think I should stay home?" Lol...yeah, that might be a good idea.

I never thought I'd be able to attack you like this, but hear me out.
Dud, *EVERYTHING's* norhta Corpus Cristi. You're a f'n *YANKEE*. :-) Or your from Chicago. ;-)
BTW: They're saying that Houston has officially had 2 snowfalls this year.
I think it's that the official weather recording station here is the main airport, which is like 15 or 20 miles north of downtown Houston, and it probably did snow at least a flurry there the last time we were talking about this (when it came down as rain in downtown Houston.)
(I should be saying "season" rather than "year" (I've made this mistake before this season), as our first snowfall (our big one) this season occurred last year)
Actually, yall gotta heavy snow this yr and season but it didn't stick. TWC was set up in downtown Houston and it was really comin down.
We get rumors of snow.
Someone hacked Stan's blog. Watch out. You could be next. :|
Oh my gosh! What IS that? What does that MEAN?
Is that what happened? It's also happened to my website (on the same main domain), I'm thinking that I forgot to pay for my FTP space, even though I did pay for my domain for this next year. But I haven't seemed to received any warning messages about it from my FTP provider.
Which is Y it was a great idea for us to have more than one blog happening at a time when we decided to replace the former "Bleck" (tm) blog.
If it's not straightened out in the next day or two, I'll call them up and try and resolve it.

> Actually, yall gotta heavy snow this yr ...
I haven't seen *ANY* snow this year.
> and season but it didn't stick.
When we got our heavy snow last year, it didn't stick. It never sticks here in Houston. But when you get a solid 8 hours of snow in Houston (which is what we got last year), we call it a heavy snow.
And it did stick, for 15 minutes. ;-) Actually, it stuck in some places overnight.

Actually, Texas Womans College was setup in Denton, Texas (though, not in downtown Denton.)
It snowed in Houston the last two yrs before it snowed in NYC, that's pretty amazin.
D*mn you global warmin!
Voted for Medina Reck. Just thought you should know. :)
Nestor, you were correct. My blog got hacked. I guess now's the time to upgrade to the latest WordPress software ...
Stan,
Will you be able to salvage your posts when you get the new one up and running?
Sorry to hear that Nest;)
I skipped the primaries, because basically, I was too busy today w/ work & such. Been followin the results, looks like it's gonna be Perry v White; which is what I thought all along. I WILL be votin in the general election.
I do believe that I have the database intact (in otherwords, I do believe that I'll be able to recover our posts and comments.)
Perry v White, eh? Who would've thunk it!!!! ;-)
I know. Crap, I'm going to have to vote for Senor Pelo.
On the bright side, it looks like all 5 ballot measures will pass. I don't know how that works though. Do they automatically make it on the November ballot? If so, I think 4 of 5 will pass in November. The sonogram measure is looking like 70-30, but I don't know that that'll be enough to get it passed in a general election. The other controversial one, Public acknowledgment of God was passing at a 96-4 rate. That one will pass in November. I can hear the libs now, *in whiny lib voice* "Oh, my son had to endure those evil Christians praying before the football game and asking God to protect everyone from injury. OH THE HUMANITY!!!"
Dud, you say say your prayers all you like for all I care. I just don't think it's the government's business to be involved in it.
Go to church and pray. I'm all for that. Pray in your home, I'm all for that. Pray in a park for all I care.
Just don't dictate that the government does your praying for you.
A Rachel Maddow clip -

(I'll probably post another Maddow clip (about the Texas primaries) a little later, but I haven't seen it yet ... )
Dud, that's not what Christians want. We would like to be able to pray out loud in places like schools though. (obviously when it is appropriate, not in the middle of class) If you choose not to participate, that is your first amendment right. However, it is our first amendment right to pray wherever we choose. Mutual respect for religious preferences should be the goal for all Americans. We shouldn't force the majority to cower to a small minority so long as the majority doesn't force it's views on anyone.
And I'd like to be able to say "FUCK YOU" out loud in places like schools though. (obviously when it is appropriate, not in the middle of class) If you choose not to participate, that is your first amendment right. However, it is our first amendment right to scream "FUCK YOU" wherever we choose. Mutual respect for freedom of speech preferences should be the goal for all Americans. We shouldn't force the majority to cower to a small minority so long as the majority doesn't force it's views on anyone.
Of course, that's an example of 'reducio ad absurdum'.
And I'd like to be able to say "FIRE!" (even when there's no fire) out loud in places like schools though. (obviously when it is appropriate, not in the middle of class) If you choose not to participate, that is your first amendment right. However, it is our first amendment right to scream "FIRE" wherever we choose (even if there is no fire.) Mutual respect for freedom of speech preferences should be the goal for all Americans. We shouldn't force the majority to cower to a small minority so long as the majority doesn't force it's views on anyone.
Of course, that's an example of 'reducio ad absurdum'.
There's only one reason the (fake) Christians want prayer in schools. To indoctrinate the young.

Actually, when the planet gets warmer, more moisture is evaporated into the atmosphere so there's more snow when it happens to get cold.
Linda, I've been using my fireplace a bunch since I've last spoken with you about it. But I feel that tonight is the last I'll use it (using up the last of my fuel.) Maybe it will be cool enough tomorrow night as well, but if I buy anymore fuel, I'll probably not be able to use all of it so I'll just stick with my apartments normal heating system if I get cold tomorrow night ...
Wow..bummer about the blog. That's weird. Glad to hear you got some use out of that fireplace, Stan. We use our a lot. Gettin up to the lower 40s though for the remainder of the week and weekend!! Hopefully we'll lose a good portion of this snow.
Stan, when was the last time you were in a public school? The kids do drop the F-bomb all over the place. About your second comment, screaming "FIRE" in school. The reason why it's illegal is because it can create a panic that leads to trampling injuries and deaths. The only thing absurd is your weak attempt. BTW, I've said this before, and I'll say it again, it's not about indoctrination. It's about the right to freely exercise our religion. You have the right to freely exercise your atheism, Christians should have the same right.
Nestor -
> Stan, when was the last time you were in a public school? The kids do drop the F-bomb all over the place.
And you seem to think it's a good thing. I thought in my comment you would get that I don't think that that probability is nec. a good thing.
And I'll bet there's plenty of brainwashed kids dropping the "Jesus" bomb in school too.
I don't nec. think that that's a good idea, but they certainly have that right (on the playground and in the lunchroom.) Once again you're engaging in 'red-herring' argumentation, as you're attempting to distract from my point that the government shouldn't be doing your praying for you.
> About your second comment, screaming "FIRE" in school. The reason why it's illegal is because it can create a panic that leads to trampling injuries and deaths. ...
Certainly what "Bleck" (tm) and the rest of your right-wing gas bags are doing is in a way screaming fire in a crowded theatre. You do know that radio is a "show business" thing, don't you????
> ... it's not about indoctrination.
Garbage. Quit lying.

> Wow..bummer about the blog. That's weird.
Not so weird. I tell the truth, so I'm a target. ThanX for the concern!
Stan, your straw man argument failed. Attack the real me.
Nestor -
> Stan, your straw man argument ...
What straw man argument???? Present evidence of your supposed catching me in engaging in straw man argumentation.
> failed.
Mu.
> Attack the real me.
*WHICH* "real* you????
Stan the Scientist said,
"Actually, when the planet gets warmer, more moisture is evaporated into the atmosphere so there's more snow when it happens to get cold."
Actually when El Nino meets up w/ a negative Arctic Oscillation you get alotta snow dumb *ss.
Actually, both things are true.
Ok, I'll agree w/ that.
