Cherry Cherry

I don't know what George had against cherry trees, but we've been enjoying them up here in Traverse City. The cherry festival starts today!

It's funny how different real cherries are from the cherries you get in drinks. I wonder if the ones they put in drinks are even real...

Have fun in the TCM!

That's really beautiful. I don't think we can grow cherries down here in Texas.

Thanks, Stan! I actually worked fairly hard at getting those shots. I wish the cherries were cleaner..I rinsed them off some with water, but maybe I should have done more. I had people waiting in the car along side the road as I ran out into someone's orchard, so I was a bit rushed. ha.

The purple ones are the sweet ones that we normally eat, and the red ones are more sour, used for pies mostly, I guess. You can get anything cherry up here..it's hilarious.

Oh, in drinks! I didn't get that at first, Nestor. The maraschino cherries are actually light colored, sweet cherries, dyed in red food coloring from what I understand. Tasty, tho!

Yep, those are some cherry cherries.

You're now the crazy orchard AND supermarket camera lady.

I was thinking about it today, I guess inspired by this thread, but Y did George chop down the cherry tree? I know he couldn't lie about his chopping it down, but did that non-lie cover exactly Y he chopped it down????

The cherry tree myth is a moral lesson invented by a biographer/pastor who knew the Washington family.

Washington did, however, chop down a larch...nobody likes larches.

Linda said...

Larch?! Lol! THAT was obscure! Especially cuz they're indigenous to the northern hemisphere, and you're indigenous to the southern.

I've no idea Stan..an excellent inquiry! Maybe it was blocking his view.

RecknHavic said...

Actually, I got that from Monty Python

"And now.....the larch."

That was Hitler's excuse, Linda. I certainly hope (and trust) that George had the same reason.

Oops! I intended to say " ... I certainly hope (and trust) that George didn't have the same reason."

That was a typo in the worst degree.

So, are any of ya'll signing up 4 "Bleck" (tm) U?

RecknHavic said...

Elaborate please.

Stan,

Hitler's excuse was Jews are in the way? Hmm. I thought it was that he needed a scapegoat for the bad economy. Blame the Jews for the economy to garner national unity, and then use them as slave labor to help in bringing the economy back.

What, you didn't know that "Bleck" (tm) has started (what he calls) a University? It only costs like $79. (but 4 how long that $79. lasts, I don't know.)

Were. Past tense. They say that when Hitler was trying to paint, that supposedly some Jews walked between him and his painting subject and it really pissed him off.
