It's Time

As some as you know, Joe Klein from Time Magazine visited our family breakfast about a month ago as part of his America From the Road tour across the country to get the opinions of 'every day people'. We got minor mention in his blog, and an even smaller mention in the magazine that came out this week, that has An American Journey on the front. My sister in law, Terri, got quoted which is pretty cool. Here's the quote in case you don't run out and buy the magazine:

"In Detroit, a Democrat named Terri Polidori who is the financial officer of a small construction company said, 'The week that the tax cut in the stimulus package came through, I handed every employee his check and told them, 'You see the extra money in the envelope this week? That's from President Obama.''"

What a cool challenge!

Yes it was. I'm thinkn the Old Tribe (w/ the exception of Jane and maybe one of the other chics) are all bone heads. Tyrone was a definite bonehead.

Ok, regarding you sil's comment:

I'm not one bit surprised that she believes that tax money belongs to the govt and that they decide who gets it; typical mindless liberal logic. I suppose she thinks Obama's her daddy.

Seriously tho, you really think she could hold her own in a debate w/ me? I could whip her w/ one lob.

Linda said...

Honey, yes..I seriously do. I know you know your stuff, but I have yet to meet anyone she can't out do in that kind of debate. She studies this stuff..it's what she's about. She's not just interested, she LIVES it. I really believe she would have an answer for anything you would throw her way. If you're seriously interested, I will give her access to this blog and let her, you, Nestor, and Stan have at it. It could be fun! Say the word.

Or a better idea..you could start something at your Town Hall blog which is still there. That would be more appropriate really.

Lovely chess move, Linda!

That's all well and good, but can she sing???? If so, perhaps she'd like to sing on my parody tune about the "White Limbaugh" (it seems that since you haven't taken me up on my offer to you, I'm still looking for a vocalist for this parody tune.)?

Linda said...

Haha..no, she can't. Well the thing is, I don't have time to do the stuff we want to, so that's why. :) I'm sure there's plenty of talented Houstonians who want to have a little Limbaugh fun! (Ok, I'm not sure of that at all.)

New thread at Reck's TownHall Blog for your sil btw.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Reck, it seems that you're trying to define your opponent before you've even met her.

But that is your M.O.

It is good to see a new post up on your TH blog, though. Maybe it'll inspire me to post something new on my blog, maybe not.

At any rate, I'm not commenting @ your new post at this time 4 2 reasons: 1) To give Linda's SIL the first shot at it, and 2) You haven't really presented an opening argument 4 debate.

RecknHavic said...

It's true I've presented no real startin point for debate at my TH blog; it's actually just an openin to a forum that is open to watever topic anyone would like.

The title "A Socialists Promo" speaks about BO, not the SIL; or didn't you watch it Stan?

Feel free to intro a topic *DUD*

Linda said...

Saw it, but not sure what you're looking for as far as a response. I thought maybe you'd have a topic you wanted an opinion on..maybe you should start a subject, Stan. (Isn't the chorus version of "Creep" awesome?)

RecknHavic said...

Ok, how bout this...

How much did Obama personally pay, outta his own pocket, all those employees at your SIL's workplace?

Yes, RadioHead rocks!

RecknHavic said...

Ok, topic up on new thread (comment #2) for your SIL or whomever at Reck's TH Blog. My prediction: after reading the topic she'll never debate it.

I assume you think you should call the President of the United States of America "BO". If so, my response is (and you can quote me on this): Straw man. The President isn't a Socialist. And even if he was, please tell us what would be wrong with being a Socialist.

Now you're trying to play chess with me. ;-)

RecknHavic said...

"I assume you think you should call the President of the United States of America "BO""

Stan, I'd call him BHO but noone would know who I'm talkin about as we're not allowed to use his middle name, Hussein. Btw, do you recall the prez e1 called Dubya?

"...what would be wrong with being a Socialist."

Your cover is blown.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Reck, you should call him "Mr. President". Y do you hate America????

Stan Rosenthal said...

Recky -

Yes, I referred to him as "President George "D Dubya I" Bush. And I have witnesses here.

Cheech and Chong performed here last night, so seeing as how they find it profitable to make it here, the former is more true than the latter in your statement. :-)

Yes, plenty of progressives abound around here! But most of the progs that I knew have moved out to greener pastures. I actually don't personally know any female vocalists here. Really, my potential vocalist could live in Helsinki as long as she's got a microphone and a computer with a sound card.

So "PRAY" tell, Reck. In Your Humble Opinion, which is worse: Socialism, or having body odor????

Haven't been here in a while. I did see the article at Barnes & Noble, skimmed through it and thought it was the same crap that Time usually prints.

Here's the deal about your sister in law's quote. The money didn't come from "President" Obama, it came from taxpayer paychecks. The government decided it was going to take $8 less from everyone every week, and make them pay all in one lump sum when they file their taxes. It was essentially a credit, not a tax cut. You had to claim it on your taxes and your tax return was less. (at least mine was) But apparently that was worthy of a Peace Prize. Link follows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnLqoRtUAVg
