It's basically a deep fried jelly donut..a polish tradition on Fat Tuesday. They come in a variety of choices for the filling. We got some cream filled ones. I haven't had one yet, tho. The link is to a very short article. I read somewhere that it started when they wanted to get rid of their sugar, lard, etc. before lent started. I do think it's more of a northern thing.
Here's the deal, tho. Apparently, they're not doing rew and imm. separately anymore. So from now on I guess we'll choose one tribe to win both, and and person who wins the redemption island contest. Nice pull out ahead tonight, Reck!

I've heard it 2 ways.."poonch-key" and "punch-key", with the emphasis on the first syllable.
