I have been there. It was about 30 years ago. My dad took me to see a CES (consumer electronics show, I think it stands 4.)

I don't remember much about Chicago from it, as basically we only shuttled between the hotel and the convention center.

It's such a great city, I love it. Safe, clean and beautiful.

Stan Rosenthal said...

My old MIDI partner DoorC's from there, we created some beautiful replications of some great music together.

RecknHavic said...

Nice pics; does look clean and beautiful..not so sure about safe tho.

Ok, howd yall do the window washing one?!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Since you asked me (the *ONE*), the anser is water. Lots of water.

I come from Detroit. It's safe.haha Really tho, we walked all around at night, lots of people out and about. No, I wouldn't hang out in certain areas, like in South Chicago, but you can walk all around downtown and feel safe. Way different from here.

Ha, they had that window washing photo op set up at the top of the Hancock building.

Detroit. Hmm. I repaired bad connections in my air conditioning controller (the box that holds the air conditioning and heating control switches on the dashboard) that was keeping lower blower fan speeds and night illumination from working today on my Dodge.

Also I discovered that my battery (which will need to be replaced soon) is located in the front left fender in front of the front left wheel.

To replace the battery in my car, you first have to remove the front left wheel.

I think they got this from being owned by Dahmer(sp? Mercedes Benz' owner), as I've seen MB's with battery's installing in the trunk.

I need front end work (shock absorption and bushings, I think) also, so I'll have the battery changed when I get that work done.

So much 4 buying American. ;-)

Stan Rosenthal said...

miricle win 4 Detroit, Chicago beats Indy (thank U very much) and Minnesota's biggest ball of twine beating Jacksonville in another miracle ...

all placing Houston the sole leader in 1st place in our division.

And Green Bay losing, so you've got an interesting division as well. :-)

Linda said...

Oooh, I didn't see the whole Green Bay game, didn't know they lost.

Ha, we'll take that ugly win..even with Stafford's 3 interceptions. Ouch.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Not only did they lose, they lost decisively. From what I understand about it, the game wasn't as close as the final score indicated.

ps: the only other team (than Houston) to be in sole lead in their division is Baltimore.

Stan Rosenthal said...

> Ha, we'll take that ugly win..even with Stafford's 3 interceptions. Ouch.

The mark of a good team is it finds a WAY to win, even if they aren't playing so well.

Houston had a game like that too. Our WAY to win has a name: J.J. Watt. From Wisconsin, actually.

Stan Rosenthal said...

It's not an embarrassment to lose to a team as good as SF is. Ok, well maybe its embarrassing to lose the WAY Detroit did. ;-)

SNORT!!!!

Stan Rosenthal said...

what is it with the big De...'s?

Denver's Payton Manning throws 3 interceptions in a row to start their game against Atlanta ...

Oh, and the Big D losing to Seattle ...

SNORT!

Linda said...

Did you see today's Lion's game, Stan?? WOW, what a crazy game. We lost, btw.

Stan Rosenthal said...

I don't have cable or anything, your game wasn't available to me. But I was keeping up with the score as it was happening, amazing finish 4 the Lions in regular time ... I never expected ya'll to go into overtime in that game after I saw Tennessee up by 14.

Another miracle 4 the Lions in that regard, I guess to expect miracles to keep ya'll winning was just a bit too much ... even though I was expecting another Lions win once ya'll were into overtime. Oh well, you did not do us another favor. But thanX 4 trying!

BTW: You blog comes up sometimes as being in the Romanian language (do I want to translate?) in Chrome, any idea Y?

Stan Rosenthal said...

PS: I underSTANd your quarterback injurred out and was replaced in that game? The Titans used to be a Houston team, they know physical football. We play them here next, should be fun.

And ya'll host us (the best team in the AFC, one of the best teams in the NFL (at this point)) on Thanksgiving this year? I'm looking forward to it.

We'll have to make a bet. :-)

Linda said...

Yes, out with a "strained leg muscle". Not sure if he'll be in next game or not, they're playin it by ear. Romanian? Weird.

Oh cool on the Tgiving day game!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Ok, here's the bet:

If the Lions win, I have to send you some bullsh*t.

If the Texans win, you have to do the Hello, Goodbye parody with me.

;-)

Linda said...

"If the Lions win, I have to send you some bullsh*t"

LOL!! That's SO tempting!! How can refuse that offer?! I might get bullshit!!

Stan Rosenthal said...

U seem to be forgetting the other possibility, that the Texans will win and you'll have to co-write the parody song with me.

Anyhow, so it's a bet????

Love,

Houston, Texas

Stan Rosenthal said...

(this season) Ya'll will have another shot @ the Vikings. The Titans will have another shot at us.

The Titans' quarterback injured out in their game against us, they lost. We know physical football.

I think they found it to be a real "Hassel", *back* here where they're from. :-)

Linda said...

How much did the Lions suck yesterday?! Good grief.

Sorry, Stan..I can't commit to helping you out. I'm going thru some personal sh*t here, I'm not even doing the Survivor draft with Reck this season. My brain is mush. You can still send me bullshit tho if we win! lol I'm not sure how good I'd be at that anyway. I think Reck should help you write it..he's good at that stuff! :)

Congrats to Houston taking care of the Titans, handily. When do we play you guys?

Stan Rosenthal said...

U only need to commit once you lose, on ThanXgiving day.

I understand ya'll play over your heads on ThanXgiving?

Without further injuries on our end, IMHO it won't be enough to beat us.

On the BS? There's an area out here known 4 a certain type of psychedelic mushroom that grows in BS. I would hope to send you some of that BS including mushrooms ... but the law knows about it, ...

Linda said...

I've never done mushrooms..was always too afraid of the hallucination thing. I do love a good grilled portabello, tho.

I'm sure you're right about the Thanksgiving game. We do not look good right now.

Stan Rosenthal said...

So, the Lions didn't lose today. Nor did they win, it'e their bye week. :-)

I trust that they'll heal enough to put up a show against us on ThanXgiving ...

We on the other hand, are in 2nd. place 4 the first time this year. Atlanta won today, so they're 5 and 0, we have to win tonight to keep up.

GO TEXANS - SNORT!!!!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Linda -
> I've never done mushrooms..was always too afraid of the hallucination thing.

In my case I never shot up. I was alWAYs afraid that I might like it too much, so I've never used a needle to get high.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Texans are 5 and 0. The last time a Houston pro football team went 5 and 0 was the Houston Gamblers (USFL) back in the '80's.

Linda said...

Nice game last night, I watched the end of it. :)

Stan Rosenthal said...

I don't know if I'm happier about being 5 and 0 or finally getting the 'not ever beating the Jets' monkey off our back.

We did have a key player (Brian Cushing) injured and out 4 the rest of the season, though.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Now I feel how a Lions fan usually feels. Oh well, it would've been big nationally, but really the important game 4 us is next week (Baltimore).

Congrats on the Lions' (another) miracle win though ...

Stan Rosenthal said...

Because the Broncos beat the Chargers last night, there are only 2 teams in the AFC above .500. The Texans and the Ravens.

Either WAY, next week's game between the Texans and the Ravens is 4 the AFC lead ...

Linda said...

Miracle win is right. That's Lions win was even too ugly for me. We look awful.

Stan Rosenthal said...

In our case, we looked awful and we lost.

Trust me, it's much better to look awful and win, than to look awful and lose.

Stan Rosenthal said...

meanwhile, we here still have the Astros. (I don't wan't to jinx anything by mentioning your team.)

Oh well.

)-:

Linda said...

Lol I suppose that's true.

Ok, I'll try to get some new pics up here. It's fall in Michigan, after all.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Michigan (well, the Lions) falls on ThanXgiving day, remember????

Stan Rosenthal said...

Congrats on the T*gers making it 2 the W*orld S*ries!!!! Especially so soon, they'll have to be favorites with all the extra rest.

Stan Rosenthal said...

I don't know if I'm happier about being 6 and 1, and an (effective) 2 game lead in the AFC, or finally getting the 'not ever beating the Ravens' monkey off our back.

Stan Rosenthal said...

GL against Chicago tonight, at least I will be able to, and will be listening.

Stan Rosenthal said...

It sounded awful.

Linda said...

Yes, super happy about about the Tigers. Looks like we're playin San Fran which should reek havoc with our sleep for awhile.

Omg..we suuuuuuck. The guys on sports talk radio were already talking about how Thanksgiving day could be BRUTAL. haha

Stan Rosenthal said...

and some (very) few fans around here R still whining that the Texans don't get no respect, nationally. They're wrong.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Lovely Linda -
> Omg..we (Lions) suuuuuuck.

No, actually, ya'll (Lions) Suhck.

;-)

Stan Rosenthal said...

I should probably cash in on one of my predictions that actually came true:

Do you remember back a couple of years ago, most everybody here in Houston (except the owner) thought that Gary Kubiak should be fired and it became obvious that he wasn't gonna get fired, then the rumors around here was that they were gonna bring Wade Phillips in as Defensive Coordinator? I said that that would be the best possible thing to help Kubiak.

The rest (so-far), is history.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Congrats on the Lions getting a much needed win. And too bad about the Tigers, now Detroit knows how it feels here in Houston. The one time the Astros make it to the world series, we were swept by the Chicago White Sox.

RecknHavic said...

Yep, 'Stros chocked in their only WS appearance, but atleast they got that far. Nothing to feel ashamed about for the Tigres, they had a good year.

RecknHavic said...

Go Red Wings!!

Linda said...

Thanks, yeah that Lions game was pretty exciting. And we DID need that win. Woulda been nice if the Tigers won a game or two, good grief. Oh well.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Hey Recky, long time no see!!!!

Seems like around the last time we saw U, you said that if Romney was nominated that you weren't gonna vote. Is that still your plan?

Love,

Stan

Stan Rosenthal said...

This is dedicated to Recky and Romney -

Stan Rosenthal said...

Recky @ October 29, 2012 12:54 PM:

Agreed. Except that it's spelled "choked".

Hopefully the Rockets (and the Texans) are making the moves to bring back "Clutch City"

Stan Rosenthal said...

Linda, I understand that the Rockets open our season on Halloween night against your Pistons. Is that your 1st. regular season game too?

Any bets???? I could be forced to send you a James Coney Island halloweenie, maybe. if ya'll win.

Linda said...

I just heard that this morning! Guess Linsanity is in the D! Bet on the Pistons? Whatta ya think I'm nuts?!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Ya'll didn't play all that bad. And no, it's now HardINSTANITY!!!!

Stan Rosenthal said...

I had to watch the Detroit feed to see the game.

Down here "Mejier" is spelled "Meyer".

Stan Rosenthal said...

Watching the game, I have this feeling that the Pistons ran into a weird thing, seeing this dude that looks like he could be a member of ZZ Top taking the ball on to the court.

They were probably memorized, must've thought that they were in La Grange or something. :-)

mesmerized

Sunday, sunday, sunday ...

From the NBC Sunday Night Football website -
+- +- +- +-
Week 10, Sun., Nov. 11: Texans at Bears
2011 regular season records: Texans (10-6), Bears (8-8)

Last time the teams met: Faced with one last chance to make the playoffs, the Chicago Bears blew it. Andre Johnson had two touchdowns and the Houston Texans got a 31-24 win over the Bears on Sunday to knock Chicago out of the playoff picture in Week 17 on Dec. 28, 2008.

Head-to-head record: Texans lead series, 2-0.
+- +- +- +-
That scares me that Chi town hasn't ever beaten us. Hopefully we'll be able to continue the trend (like we have on Miami), though.

Funny, when you hear former Texans players (and commentators) talking about playing Chicago (in Chicago), they speak of things like "if you took your beer out of the cooler it would freeze", "my pen froze", and "all we were thinking about was getting off the field and over to the (bench) heaters".

Shouldn't be that cold this SUNDAY ... happy 4 our dudes. :-)

Stan Rosenthal said...

BTW: VOTE!!!! (U2 Recky, even though you'll cast a stupid vote. :-) )

Linda said...

What happened with the game, Stan? Is that the game Chicago won last minute? I can't remember, I just know I want them to lose and they WON'T!

Reck DID vote! Not necessarily for Romney, tho. ;)

Linda said...

Oh crap..it's on Nov. 11th. Got it, misread that. That'll be a good game. I'm rootin for you guys.

Stan Rosenthal said...

If he did vote, would he really admit that he voted Romney, even if he did?

We won (against Chicago), BTW. But what happened in that game? The beer froze when the fans took it out of their coolers ...

Stan Rosenthal said...

Linda -
> Oh crap..it's on Nov. 11th.

Ugh ... it's the anniversary of when I got busted 4 pot possession, I guess it was in like '72 or '73. I got off because I'm white (and my parents could afford it.)

Linda said...

Aw, I'm sorry about your anniversary memories, Stan. It stinks when bad/traumatic things happen and we have to be reminded of that every year. I have a new date of my own, so I feel ya.

Ha, of course he'd admit it. He's nothing if not truthful.

Stan Rosenthal said...

And all this time I thought U were married. :-)

Your anniversary was playing the Rockets again tonight. I wish we could play against ya'll every night.

Linda said...

Lol, thanks a lot.

Linda said...

Watching the game. C'mon Houston!! Beat those Bears!!!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Linda -
> ... I just know I want them ("'Da Bears") to lose and they WON'T!

I hope you're happy now. Jeeze you ladies are so hard to please. Glad we could make U (and me) happy.

Gee, I don't know if I'm happier about keeping the Bears not ever beating us streak going, or being able to claim that we might be the best team in the NFL.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Because we're worn out from playing Chicago, and playing our 5 quarter game against Jacksonville, and our having to travel on the short work week, some around here are predicting Detroit to win this Thursday.

I agree we got all that going against us, but I'm not prepared to predict that we're gonna lose the game.

Stan Rosenthal said...

A lot of us down here were very impressed with the game the Lions played against us, with the exception of Suhck's! "game", of course.

Me, I'm especially impressed by Stafford's play. I think yous guys actually have a real quarterback.

Stan Rosenthal said...

GL against GB this weekend!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Oh well. 4 most of the game it was a good game, though.

Wish us skill against New England tomorrow night!

Linda said...

It's gettin uglier up here, Stan! Some fans are jumpin ship!

Stan Rosenthal said...

At least ya'll have a "great" lake to jump into, though your ship sunk weeks ago.

We, we have to drive like 40 or 60 miles to find an ocean (excluding man made lakes or a natural bay) to jump into, so we didn't. We won our division today, and only need 1 win to secure the bye in the playoffs.

SNORT!!!!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Linda -
> It's gettin uglier up here, Stan! Some fans are jumpin ship!

They feel like they've been kicked in the balls. :-)

Stan Rosenthal said...

It's ugly down here now too, after our blowout loss to Minn.

Nothing nice is being said about the Texans, and deservedly so. Hopefully it will light a fire under our coach's feet. If we lose to the Colts this next game, it will probably be the 2nd. worse choke in Houston's history.

But the Rockets have been playing great recently!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Gophers played pretty good in our little bowl down here, too bad they had to lose.

Linda said...

Happy New Year, Stan! Looks like San Fran goin to the superbowl.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Yes. I feel sorry 4 Alex Smith (the QB Capernick replaced.)

Stan Rosenthal said...

Would the 49'rs win the superbowl if they didn't change their quarterback in midstream????

I don't know, all I know is they didn't win it by changing their quarterback midstream.

Linda said...

I don't know, but I was happy they lost. :)
