We hit the carnival today! They had it downtown right by the lake, so if you have to go to a carnival, it could be worse. It's probably less than a mile from the house.
T won't go "on any ride that's more than 2 feet off the ground", (his words), so B and I went up on the ferris wheel. To be fair, it took me a minute and a few deep breaths before I could take the pictures from up there. That restaurant is one of our favorite places, cuz it's close and the outdoor deck is great.
Now I know it's a carnival, (fun, fun, fun!), and I'm supposed to be stupid and cheerful, but man, it was pretty much a rip. We bought 24 tickets for $20.00, which I figured out to be 83.3333 cents per ticket. The ferris wheel was 4 tickets a person, which means it cost $3.32 (or $.6.64 for the 2 of us), to go around 3 times. Cha-ching! The Haunted Mansion ride was about the silliest thing I'd ever been in. Ya know, the creeky seats for 2, on a track, that take you into a big dark box filled with black lights? I think I actually said to T, "just pretend it's scary." There's money well spent. ($9.96 for the 4 of us in case you can't find your calculator.)
Then we find out the games are cash only...can't use the tickets. The games range from $1.00 (crap prize) to $5.00 (decent prize). Decent if you want a big inflatable dolphin in your kid's room for the next 2 months, till you "accidently" drop it on a pin cuz you can't stand the thing gettin in your way anymore. I digress. So I'd say we dropped between $30 and $40 for about an hour's worth of "fun". Thank goodness we weren't hungry or thirsty.
Ok, I did come reeeeaally close to just straight out buying that pink alien. But then I thought D might accidently drop it on a pin in about 2 months.
I sound like a crotchety old man, don't I? Hey kid! Get off my lawn!!

Sounds like yall gottaway cheap.
That's funny, the only ride that really bothers me is the ferris wheel. If it stayed in motion I'd be alright.
I'll give this post the attention it deservrs after I finish whippn the boy at Lord of the Rings Risk.
What, you don't like when it stops when you're up there and your little buggy rocks back and forth...back and forth...? ;)
Lost.
So, did ya ride Phar's Fury? Looka fun.
Startn to get a feel a your necka the woods. Small town? Or just small town atmosphere?
It's pretty, from what I've seen.
Oooh, sorry bout that.
I woulda done, if I'd had someone to go w/ me!
From what I understand, it's a small town that's been there a long time...was mostly cottages on the lake. Kind of a get away for the bigger city folks. Well, we all know what urban sprawl does, so the surrounding area has really taken off. Some of the houses out here are crazy beautiful, but there still remains the 'small townish' part (which I like). We live on the edge of where the bigger subs start and where the old town ends.
You have to admit that pink alien is the greatest. I'm regrettin not gettin it now. It coulda been the tackiest, best addition to this house ever. Dang it!
It's funny. We went to the carnival yesterday too. Well it wasn't much but it was something to do. I think we got about 26 tickets for 20 bucks. So Isabella got to go on a few rides. They were pretty weak, but she had fun...I think. We also got a funnel cake. You have to get a funnel cake when you go to the carnival, I think it's required by the Texas constitution. But it's weird. I used to love them, but now I eat about half, and I start to not feel so good. There was no Ferris Wheel, but I'm not usually afraid of them. But if there WAS a Ferris Wheel at THIS carnival, I don't think I'd have gotten on. They didn't look like the most trustworthy carnies I've seen, and that's sayin' something.

That link doesn't seem to be complete (if this doesn't work, add like "daughters.mp3" to the end ... ), let me try again -

The pink alien is funny. Further proof that "they're" out there.
Seriously tho, I think it's possible that an alien civilization exists. But if they do, I don't think that they're super advanced beings. I'm thinkin they're boneheads. I mean, flyin saucers; not very aerodynamic. You can travel millions of light years through space, and all you can come up w/ is a jump suit? Not very creative, eh?
Bonehead, eh? lol. It's like D says about Roswell...they build a ship that can travel light years to our planet, but they can't land the thing? I tried to explain it was just technical difficulties.
Re: Roswell
In the 40's we co-opted the German's attempt to create a "flyin wing". The first version of stealth aircraft. Most of the research and development took place (coincidentally?) where all these "sightings" occurred.
It makes sense that the govt would perpetuate (man, I am deadly w/ spell-ck) the myth of aliens in flyin saucers.
We have documented and physical evidence of the development of stealth technology. We have zero evidence of aliens flyin around.
Headed to Austin, cyl.
Yeah, yeah... whatever makes you feel better. How do explain the little alien beings who were taken from the wreckage and examined? Hmmmm?
About alien sightings. I'm guessing 90% of them are people witnessing government and military experiments, and the other 10% are people who have been drinking moonshine or are hopped up on peyote.
Hopped up on peyote. :)
And these little alien beings, you've seen em? Guessn it's your turn to "persuade".
Ok, I realize you may be speakin tongue-in-cheek here, but if not..convince me.
Tongue firmly planted in cheek.
What's peyote??
I just had a banana split. I don't think I've had a banana split since high school. Man, was that delish. And they're good for ya, too..what with the banana, pineapple and strawberries! Who knew health food was so tasty? I may have to eat one every day to get in my recommended servings of fruit!
Peyote is the stuff the guys on 'Young Guns' took and they started seeing and hearing things. It's basically like LSD, but it comes from a natural (kind of) source, I believe. I think it was pretty popular among native Americans in the Southwest. I may have to Wiki it to get more info.
It's found on cactus. Ever seen the movie Altered States?
Yeah. When I was, like, 13.
Wow, I just googled Altered States, and I was indeed 13 when it came out! Good guess!
Peyote is what the government won't allow native Indians to take in their *RELIGIOUS* ceremonies.
What happened to freedom of religion (for all)? I mean wine is mandatory (and allowed here) in Jewish ceremonies. And for the (fake) Christians, man are they into "whine".
I like the looks a this area (where yall live). Plus I like this lake better than Kent, tho it does feel alittle walled in :)
