Of course 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' is a Police song, but it can also be applied to seeing the Police on the lawn of the DTE Center. It's been awhile since I've been on that lawn...we used to see a lot of concerts there and it seems everyone has their own personal story about the lawn. You know the usual 'someone threw up on me' or 'I tripped and rolled down', etc. Everyone but 
me, of course. I'm a little boring that way. But it was a packed house, hard to find a spot for our blankets.The weather here has been brilliant lately, and last night was no exception. There were 14 of us, and we went early to tailgate in the parking lot. Brats, bbq chicken, and grilled shrimp were on the barby. Elvis Costello opened and Sting did one song w/ him. The concert was great. He sounds fantastic, and the boys seemed in good form. I had to giggle a little when they showcased Andy Summers on guitar. Having recently seen John Mayer, it was almost amusing. No offense, Andy.
I took some good pics, I thought. Security thought so, too. I looked up from the viewfinder to find one of them, a very tall one of them, leering down at me. Apparently they didn't like the size of my zoom lens, so they shut me down. But not before I got a few! I'll share. (And then I'll hear a knock on my door and be carried away.) Oh, that's right. No one reads this blog. Whew!

Really, my first thought when I saw the crowd pic was; what a diverse lookin group. Seriousy, I've never seen so many white people in one place since Robert Byrd was in the Clan ;)

There's an outdoor concert spot in Houston (the Cynthia Woods Mitchel Pavilion) that reminds me of the Lawn.
That's funny...that crossed my mind when I posted the pic of the people, too. Gotta consider the band, I guess.
Actually they are a nice bunch. They're all guys D went to HS w/ and their wives. There's a huge group of em who still hang out.
Man, Sting looks different without make up and wrestling tights. ;)
