Fourth of July

We're back from our long weekend up north. Hope you all had a really nice weekend. (Seemed like 2 weeks.) I gotta start by saying the weather was absolutely perfect. Don't know if any of you noticed that big "H" hanging over the Midwest, on the Weather Channel, but we sure enjoyed it. Lows around 50, highs around 80...low humidity...few cumulus clouds to make it interesting. Every day was like this.

So I thought I'd show a few pics of the lake we're on. There's an area we call "the shallows" which is a shallow, sandy area where people park their boats and hang for the day. Holiday weekends are busy up there which makes it great fun. Every time we parked the boat, there were about 15-20 boats there, anchored for the afternoon. Lotsa kids to play with, and lotsa grown-ups to meet. This weekend we met 2 couples who are friends with our friends down here. (The whole 'small world' thing happening.) Oh, and Roxie went surfing. She wasn't sure about it at first, but it got her lots of attention, so she went with it. Anyway, I think some of the pics turned out really pretty.

The night of the 4th, we went out on the lake to watch any fireworks people were setting off.

Welcome home!
You people like the water, eh?
Is yalls boat in any a the pics?

Looks like ya had a good time. Fireworks over the water are really cool too. Used to watch em down in Clear Lake when I lived there years ago.

The water in these pics looks like it was alot clearer then the other two lakes, guessn it's the local.

Really liken that boat a yours. Bet it's nice taken it out; now I know why yall do the water thing so often.

Yeah, it doesn't suck. It'd get a lot more use if we didn't have winters, tho. Nothin like makin a boat payment when it's snowing outside....

RecknHavic said...

Didn't think of it that way..
hmm..
maybe yall should move southward.

I could do that. Not as far as TX, but I could go further where the winters aren't so rough. Don't think I'd ever get D outta this outdoor wonderland, tho. At least I have him convinced (I think), not to move further north after retirement. It's amazing people here do that.

Not as far as Texas..why that's crazy talk.

I do understand D liken the great outdoors. S wasn't keen on the idea of country life, tho honestly, where we live ain't too country; but it's close. I'm baby steppin her.

Re: Padre.

It's lookin less and less like we'll make it as of now. Yeah, I know what your thinkin, but you're wrong. I'll let ya know.

Well, I won't pretend I'm not disappointed, tho I know it's no fault of your own. You realize 90% of the reason we (I) chose there, was because I was hopin to meet up with you guys. Again, I get it, no worries either way. Just don't think we'll be heading that close to you for a really long time.

I meant that to read "I just don't think.." Funny how it can be misread when you leave out words..
