Indy

Keeping with the theme of nature, I've got more pics! (Of course I do.) It was a full moon in Indy this weekend and beautiful weather.

Don't know if anyone's ever tried to take a picture of a hummingbird, but they're quick little suckers. I got a few decent ones before I realized I should use the flash, then got one that I think is really cool. Anyway, if you could feign some interest, that would be great.

It's pretty cool. I'll let Carmen know, I think she'd appreciate the pics. I didn't know you went to 'Indy'. How was it?

RecknHavic said...

Really like the first HB pic. It's like a photo contest winner pic; seriously.

Welcome back, Ms Travelsalot.

Linda said...

It was incredibly fun.

Thanks Mr. Workstoomuch. Whatta ya been up to? Seems like you were a little quiet before I left.

In the car Friday, I was talking to the boys about London, England. B goes, "I thought Godzilla destroyed London!"

I was waiting for T to tell him that that was "fiction" (correcting his brother brings him great joy), but instead he said, "Ben, that was TOKYO!" :)

RecknHavic said...

"Oh no, there goes Tokyo..go go Godzilla.."

Just alotta work right now (thank goodness), and watchin muy Olympics. Plus the dog walkin cuttin into each day a good hour. Really enjoyin it tho; lost a few pounds too. Took em to the dog park a couple a times; they REALLY enjoy that. It's amazin how their aggression disappears when they're off their leashes.

Linda said...

Yeah, D's aggression disappears when he's off his leash, too. Oh, did I say that out loud?

Linda said...

Wow, did you see the un-even bar comp tnite? That whole tie thing was interesting...

Nestor said...

Godzilla destroyed Tokyo, Chamberlain destroyed London.

I'm not sure of the history behind Godzilla, at least the original history. However, in the movie that was out in the late 90's, Godzilla was the fault of the French, much like Vietnam and almost everything else they did (or didn't do) in the 20th century.

RecknHavic said...

Weren't there times when Godzilla was the "good guy". Like against Mothra and others?

Our chance a rain is ebbin alittle here, but temps are stayin very reasonable.
I predict a mild fall down here.

Yall all have a good day.

Nestor said...

We've actually had rain about 3 days in a row and it's supposed to rain again today. My grass and trees might actually make it.

OK, so on the NBC olympics site I just watched highlights of the US-China baseball game which included two plays at the plate. In both plays, the Chinese catcher blocked the plate, and got bowled over Pete Rose style. Then they got upset, and the manager got tossed. Hey Jim Leyland; tell your catcher that if he blocks the plate against the US, he's going to get run over, and don't get mad when it happens. Then, they hit the batter who was the first to run over the catcher...in the head. You could even see the catcher set up inside...way inside. So apparently the pitcher and pitching coach got tossed as well. Note to China; learn how to play baseball, and don't get mad when we play it.

Linda said...

Lol...you tell em Nestor!

A really nice thing happened to me today...

A lady overheard my oldest and I talking in the Hallmark store, and after he walked away, after a minute, she looked up from the cards and said, "If that's your son, you've done a wonderful job."

What a lovely thing to say, eh?

RecknHavic said...

That's definitely "beam" worthy.

Btw, I picked up on the whole you bein a good mom early on. I'm just sayn..

RecknHavic said...

Is it just me, or does it seem like the Olympics have been goin on for several months now? I had planned on takin a break, but now it;s track and field; my fave part.

Hard to believe school starts in 6 days.

Linda said...

Aw, thank you.

Yes, they're lasting forever. It seems like when I was a kid, they went by so fast.

We don't start till Wed. after Labor Day. The whole state switched to that a few years back.

Was lookin on Amazon today. Ever read the "The Case for..." series by Lee Strobel? ('case for faith, Christ, etc.) Another one I was considering is "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist" by Norman Geisler and Frank Turek. Yeah, I'm back on my kick again. Comes and goes. And with you watchin all these Olympics, you've been no good to me. ;)

Linda said...

See what I mean?

RecknHavic said...

Sorry.

But what an excitin nite. Really glad Shawn Johnson finally got a gold. Bummer for Lo Lo hittin the next to last hurdle. Sprint finals comin up manana.

Never read any Strobel. Like the title a that other one you mentioned :)

Still in Isaiah here on the Big Read.

gn2u2..

I got the good mom thing too. But compliments from complete strangers are good. When you don't get compliments it's easy to wonder if you're "doing it right". I'm glad someone not only noticed, but actually told you. Who knows, maybe she was an angel, trying to encourage you.

RecknHavic said...

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it."

Thought For The Day

"The greatest proof of Christianity for others is not how far a man can logically analyze his reasons for believing, but how far in practice he will stake his life on his belief."
T. S. Eliot

Linda said...

Go U.S.!

That's a nice thought, Nestor, I like it.

Y'all have a great day...I have a difficult one ahead. Fill you in later.

RecknHavic said...

Hope whatever it was went ok.

Linda said...

Funeral for a high school friend. Tough one.

RecknHavic said...

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that Linda. Certainly praying for you, and their loved ones.

Linda said...

Ty,J. It was horribly sad. Went to school w/ his wife as well..she was my tennis partner, so it was sorta a double whammy in the emotion department. Saw a lot of old friends, lotsa tears and lotsa laughs. Guess that's how it works.

Linda said...

On a lighter note, T said today that "mustaches are cool, in every sense of the word....just like dinosuars." Now, I've no idea where that came from, but I thought you'd be pleased to know that your facial hair ranks right up there with the creatures of the Mesozoic Era.
Weirdo. Him, not you. :)

RecknHavic said...

Man, that's a tough deal. Hope you're holdin up alright.Well, as alright as one can be under the circumstances.

Tell T that mustaches make you stronger.

Linda said...

I'm fine..I just keep thinkin about her and the kids.

Stonger, eh? I'll pass that along. Nice to hear from you before 12:30 am. Looks like we got some tough breaks in the track and field...

Linda said...

Couldn't help but notice your 10 day outlook is callin for scattered rain. Is this a rainy season for you guys? I'm gettin excited for fall!

RecknHavic said...

Been a tough Olympics altogether. SB loses to Japan, dropped batons, etc..
I miss the good ol days when our athletes doped ;)

The wife and kids..that makes me really sad.

RecknHavic said...

It is now. It's pretty sad when you start smilen cause you just drove through a puddle.

Yeah, I'm lookin forward to it as well. We're gonna have a much cooler fall here this year (the whole La Nina thingy). Can't wait for the cool down. Come on December!

RecknHavic said...

Actually didn't catch a whole lotta the Olympics tonite. Got caught up in a show about Pluto (the planet). You'da been proud.

Linda said...

I know, me too.

...when our athletes doped." lol!

Might have to send ya'll Mich sweatshirts! Just don't cut off the sleaves, ya freaks. Halloween stuff is already comin out in the stores. Does the little one start on Monday? We find out their teachers tomorrow...they post it outside the school.

Linda said...

Oh my gosh...the O spell may be broken! Ya gotta love the Plute.

RecknHavic said...

The Plute, eh? You plantarians.

Yeah, monday's the day. Teacher postin's manana as well.

haven't seen any Halloween stuff yet. Sure it's soon to come.

Paid 3.43 today btw.

Linda said...

Yowza...might have to come down there to fill up! I saw 1.72 tday, but that may have been cash only. Are they doin that down there? Cuttin you a deal if you pay in cash?

Lookin forward to hearing about Halloween for you guys. We weren't talking much last year this time...I LOVE Halloween.

RecknHavic said...

For a buck seventy-two here it's a guy w/ a siphoning hose who tells you to hurry up before the owner a the car gets back.

We go all out for Halloween as well. Next to Christmas, it's the most decorations and what not we have.

Linda said...

Ooohhh, I feel a little Halloween decoratn competition brewing!

Speaking of witch (ha), Survivor starts Sept. 18th. Ya'll better get ready... this is our chance to redeem ourselves w/ D and S!

RecknHavic said...

Yeah, we still owe D for that drink.

You're surprisingly competitive btw. Oh, we'll be postin some Hallow pics. Game on!

Linda said...

I only pretend to be competetive...the difference is I don't care if I lose. Pictures...sounds fun!

RecknHavic said...

That's it for me. Big work day manana, then the weekend off.

Linda said...

Do you use the kits to carve the pumpkins? Maybe we could have Stan judge the best pumpkin. :) (Assuming Nestor will participate.)

RecknHavic said...

Kits, yes. Stan the judge..hmm..tho I think he sometimes lacks *JUDGEMENT*, I'd trust him to be fair.

Last night we did the Ringling thing. It was pretty cool. It was Isabella's birthday so we took the birthday girl 'to the show'. What's cool is I work right across the street from the Erwin center, and since parking fees are already deducted from my paycheck, we parked there. It was pretty fun. Plus we really like "Bello". We've seen three Ringling shows, two of them with "Bello", and those have been better than the other one. Don't get me wrong, the other one was really good too, but I like the crew that goes with "Bello".

Linda said...

You're gonna think I'm nuts, but I won't go to the circus. I've heard horror stories about how they treat the animals and I don't care for the idea of whippin em for our entertainment. I know, and I'm not even into that cause. Animal testing? If need be, go for it! But there's somethin about the circus...

Did finally see Wall-E yesterday. It was ok. I like more words in my movies. I did laugh out loud when the captain stood up for the first time and they were playin the 2001 Space Odyssey theme. Very clever.

Linda said...

Oh and Happy Birthday to the little one, Nestor!! Hope she had a great time!

Linda said...

Went up to the school to check out class lists today. Got in the car and T's leg was all bloody (just a scratched mosquito bite).

I said "Hey, let's go to McDonalds!", and T said

"uh...my leg's bleeding!!" (He thought we should rush home.)

I said smiling, "I'll get you a napkin...at MCDONALDS!" He looks at me totally deadpan and says, "that does not amuse me". Ha!

Then we're ordering and he says he wants chicken nuggets and I ask him "4 or 6?" He says "Six, please. I'm losing blood."

Linda said...

By the way everybody...yesterday was Reck's half birthday, so I'm thinkin we should all sing. C'mon..."Happy Birthd-" Oh alright fine...I'm not doin it alone.

Nestor said...

I don't know about how some circuses treat their animals, but Ringling is very good about it, at least that's what every thing I've heard points to. But if your going to be a big lib about it go ahead. ;)

Linda said...

Ha! Well at least I only got ribbing from one of you, I expected worse. :)
