Thought yall played in a dome? Hey, least yall could probably kick the snot outta the Texans; course I could throw a team together from my church ans do that.
Still have a good time?

Been talkin w/ relatives and friends in Houston today; not lookin so good. Sayn power could be out for up to 2 weeks.

Go get your cars filled up (already pushin $5 per gallon in Hou). Lotta refineries shut down along coast.

RecknHavic said...

Predictin lows in the upper 50's here early part a this week.

Sur draft date? Maybe end a next week since you got family in.

Linda said...

Yeah, we had a good time. The tailgate was cancelled due to the weather, so we just went at gametime. Usually we go a few hours early and grill in the lot.

Wow, I can't imagine goin without power for that long. I'd go nuts. Petrol's creeping up here, too. I'm near E :(

Nice temps! Big winds and rain came through and cooled us off tday. Think we're toppin out in the low to mid 60s tomorrow.

Yeah, that's fine..we'll secure something later.

Linda said...

Oh..we do play in a dome.

RecknHavic said...

Heard they had strong winds in Ohio (70mph gusts) and power outages. This was a bad storm.

Re Hou: I'm doubtin it'll be that long, we'll see. Galveston and coastal towns, much longer.

Never done the tailgate thing. That sounds really fun!

RecknHavic said...

Speakin a the storm, my bro-in-law (who lives just north a Baytown (goin to new Iberia, LA to get generators. None to be had anywhere in several hundred mi radius.

Linda said...

Yep, sometimes it's hard to leave the tailgate for the game.

I hope your BIL phones first..

Awesome sleeping weather here, so I'm hittin it sooner than later.
Sweet dreams!

RecknHavic said...

Stros got no-hit in their "home" gm against Cubs in Milwaukee. Gee, wonder where their minds were.

He made an arrangement ahead a time.

Nestor said...

Sometimes you get no hit. On the brighter side of the football front, my Salary Cap FF team kicked butt today. Minnesotah didn't get in the endzone, which was bad for my RB (Peterson) but good for my kicker who kicked 5 field goals, one of which was over 50. Since the Eagles trounced St. Louie last week, I went with the Giants D and Eli. 4 touchdowns 5 sacks, a pick and a fumble recovery between them. Most of my other backs and receivers also had TD's this week...good time. Sorry about the Lambs Linda. There's always next year, and with the Lambs it always is next year isn't it? (at least since Barry retired)

RecknHavic said...

Mornin.

Well, since I follow pro FB about as much as I follow hockey, who wins and who loses doesn't matter much to me; so I'll say congrats Nest and too bad Lin. Did here that Houston was gettin a team;)

Linda said...

Why don't you guys like the Dallas Cowboys? They're in Texas, they're called the "cowboys", their cheerleaders look like lovely young ladies, 'ahem', what's not to like?

RecknHavic said...

Growin up in Houston we were programed to literally hate the cowgirls. And yes, their cheerleaders do seem..um..NICE!

Cool and breezy 68 degrees outside right now.

RecknHavic said...

Dropped 3lbs this week!

S and I are givin it another try on the quitin smokin thing startin today. Limit smokes as much as possible over the next few days and see what happens.

Yes, pray for us.

Linda said...

Hey, 3 lbs is great in one week! Good job. Quittin too, eh? Whatta you trying to torture yourself? That sort of behavior is well documented in the psychotherapy world, ya know.

Good luck to you both...

Linda said...

Now that I think of it you're starting to scare me. Walking dogs, diets...we're approaching Fall. You're supposed to put on your winter layer of fat, get lazy and sit by the fire. The weather change must have the opposite effect down there.

Nestor said...

It is actually pretty chilly this morning. :) I've been waiting to say that for about 5 months. Good luck on quitting smoking Reck. I'll pray for ya'!

Linda,

Were you including me in the Cowboys question? If you were, well, I'm a Giants fan. I can not possibly like the Cowboys, even a little (or Redskins). It's like a Yankee fan rooting for the Red Sox, not gonna happen.

Linda said...

Well, you bein a transplant, I can understand that! Did you hear that we were up by 2 yesterday with about 5 1/2 minutes left, and we lost by 23??!! Amazing. D's doin the FF, too.

Nestor said...

The weather change:

Well the thing about Texas is that it's too hot in the summer to do a whole lot so people stay indoors, most of the time. Spring, fall, and 'winter' are the times to get outside, and do all the outdoor activities.

http://marklevinshow.com/gibson-interview/

This is a link (hopefully it works) to excerpts of the Palin/Gibson interview unedited. The bold words were edited out of the interview that was seen on t.v. Don't know if it says much, but I thought it was interesting. I think they edited some of the her words that made her sound less like a war monger. But I may just be channelling Reck.

RecknHavic said...

"But I may just be channelling Reck."

Now that's a scary thought.

The thing is I put on my winter weight around...oh...the last couple a years :)
Really need to eat healthier and eat less. For the last week I've been ave bout 2300 cals a day (give or take). Shows ya how much I was eatin prior. Also, no fast food (w/ exception of an order a fries at Mickey D's when I went to visit my boy at his job). Ate lunch at a diff MD's today and had the walnut/fruit salad thingy, not bad. Did eat a sandwich when I got home few minutes ago (but only 300 cals).

On the smokin front, 5 cigs so far today. Weenin...weenin...

Linda said...

Excellent progress my dear..keep up the good work.

This is ironic...I wore a Glenn Beck (long sleeved, it's cold), t-shirt tday for the first time. Drove to the grocery, listening to O'Reilly...shopped..got back in the car and guess who was on the radio? Glenn! It's about time we picked him up here!

Linda said...

Hey, Lieutenant Sulu got married! Hope he didn't have any "Trouble with Tribbles"! har har har har...er,I mean..I never watched that dumb show.

RecknHavic said...

What a give away. Dork.
Ok, I still watch it...shhh..

Congrats on GB reception.

Long sleeves, eh?

RecknHavic said...

Ahh, now I know why Sulu was usually not included when they'd beam down to planets.

Guess in the future they're not so tolerant either.

Linda said...

Speak for yourself, I'm plenty tolerant. :)

Yes, it was only 62 today and no sun.

"Stand, no farther. No escape for you. You'll either leave this war bloodied, or with my blood on your swords." Lt.Sulu

Nestor said...

Well weren't the Star Trek people in the 'Navy'.

"Don't talk to me about naval tradition. It's nothing but rum, sodomy, and the lash." Attributed to Winston Churchill

Linda said...

Gee Winston, that's pretty harsh!

Well I met my neice. 7 mos old. She's cute, she's chubby and she puts everything in her mouth. That about covers it.

RecknHavic said...

Glad ya got to meet her. Any diaper changes for Auntie Elle?

Linda said...

Not yet! I'll see em more in the coming days. My youngest was especially cute with her..they haven't really been around babies.

It's funny, after I spent the first 2 yrs. w/ Ben, I could really sense that he would be better off as the baby in the family as opposed to a middle child. I could just feel it. It didn't feel right to put him between 2 kids, knowing his personality. I'm really sure I called that right.

What are you guys up to?

RecknHavic said...

Played monopoly earlier, youngest whuped me and the boy.

Workin on an outline for our churches upcomin "Amazin Grace Race". Meetin w/ our pastor and some others in the mornin. Themed after, obviously AR, w/ a twist. Been tryn to woek passages from Scripture into each clue.

Linda said...

That sounds cool...and challenging. I hope you have some time to work that out. May I suggest "God catches those who think they are wise in their own cleverness"? Corinthians 3

K, I really don't know if I quoted that right.

Linda said...

Well Reck, Nestor and Stan...it's officially been just about a year since I joined in talking to y'all on the GB blog. Honestly, it seems like a lot longer than that, but in commemoration of our anniversary (at least mine in the mix), I'm posting one of my favorite songs and I think it's fitting. 525,600 minutes...how do you measure a year in the life? I hope you watch it.

Cool video. I'd heard that before, but had no idea where it was from. Don't know if 'Rent' is something I could watch, but I did enjoy 'The Producers'. But that of course is Mel Brooks. I'm waiting for the Broadway version of 'Spaceballs'.

RecknHavic said...

She's quotin Scripture...

My work here is done.

RecknHavic said...

When I tried to access the vid I got..

"The URL contained a malformed video ID."

Whatever that means.

RecknHavic said...

Made it down to the high 50's here this mornin.

I know, but it's something.

Nestor said...

Yeah, I don't know if it cracked 80 yesterday. It certainly wasn't in the 90's.

RecknHavic said...

It's a great change, isn't it. Won't last too long, but atleast we're (probably) done w/ the really hot weather.

RecknHavic said...

Spoke w/ my father-in-law (thankfully they have an RV to stay in). Neighbor across the street from them had entire roof blown off. Sayn no power where they live for approx 6 weeks. This is just east a Houston.

Nestor said...

Yeah, I guess we're supposed to get back in the 90's this weekend. As long as it doesnt' hit 100 again until next May or June, I'll be happy with that.

Nestor said...

6 weeks without power? Maybe I should sell my house and just buy an RV to live in. ;)

Hope your in-laws, and the rest of your family, are doing well.

Mornin.

Linda said...

I saw possibly the dumbest tv ad ever yesterday. It was so bad, I pressed "record". Dixie paperplates. Enjoy....

They show a bunch of moms doin the "typical" mom stuff and they're talking about paperplates.

Mom#1: (running around the yard spraying her kid with the hose) turns to the camera and says, "I will no longer be defined by how many dishes I wash." (I'm not making this up.)

Mom #2: Playing with her 5 yr. old daughter says, "I'm turning in my apron for something a little more glamourous."

Mom #3: (carrying in groceries) "I deserve a paperplate that's as strong as I am." (puke)

Mom #4: (tickling her daughter on a porch swing) "My children come first, it's as simple as that."

Back to Mom #3: "And I'm proud to use Dixie paperplates if it means more time with my family."

Really? You can save that much time? I'm so insulted as a consumer, I swear to god I'm never buying Dixie paperplates.

RecknHavic said...

:)

Somebody call Al gore, these paper plate user are tree killers.

Linda said...

Yeah, no kidding. Not to mention the COST, and more garbage in the landfills! It's all about me, me, me. 'Look at me! I'm not doin dishes! Screw the planet!' ;)

I'm sure someday their kids'll grow up and think 'my mom was the BEST cuz she used Dixie paperplates every night so we spent SOOOO much more quality time together!' I swear they think we're idiots.

RecknHavic said...

For me it's the cost. If ya already got real plates, why buy pp?

'Course I'ma cheap b*st*rd.

Nestor said...

Yeah, but can a Dixie paper plate stand up to maple syrup dribbling off the Obama Waffles? That's the question Dixie needs to answer.

Anonymous said...

Well they must be strong enough cuz they're bringin joy to so many dang people.

Just discovered cons. radio talk show guy, Mark Levin. Now I don't know him personally, but I'm thinkin valium.

RecknHavic said...

Finally made it to wed nite Bible study, really enjoyed it.

Personally, I don't think Obama and Dixie will work good together. I'm just sayn..

Linda said...

Alright, that was pretty funny.

Nestor said...

He's the only guy on talk radio who has the ability to get angrier than Michael Savage. It's no wonder he's had like 12 bypass surgeries. It's funny because he has some beef with Savage. I'd guess it's because Savage makes fun of all of the other talk show hosts, at least the hard-line Republican ones. I think he got after Levin because Levin's show is similar to Savage's, except angrier, and Levin sounds like Groucho Marx. (which is Savage's nickname for Levin)

Nestor said...

I wish I was in Dixie, Hurray! Hurray! In Dixieland duh duh duh duh to duh duh duh in Dixie!

Linda said...

He did sound like Groucho. I'd never heard of him..I'm not usually in the car that late (8 pm he was on).

Politics and news are startin to bring me down. Everything's either b.s., or depressing as all get out.

Linda said...

Computer keyboards really should have one key designated for a musical note. Just one quarter note would do.

Take this one off...~...who really needs that? Replace it with a note! Or this...&...what we can't write the word "and" now? And what the hell is this...`....? If I remember correctly, that's an "accent grave" in French. We don't need that.

RecknHavic said...

Ok, you knowin what an accent grave is scares me alittle.

Oh, and I'm a big fan of & btw.

And Nest, it's Dixie..away..away..away down south in dear ol Dixieland.

Nestor said...

I do enjoy Levin though, G. Marx and all. He's on here from 10 to 12 PM. I get off work at 11 so I hear him on the way home. If I had to rank the talk show hosts I've heard:

Savage
Beck
Limbaugh
Ingraham
Boortz
Levin
Hannity
O'Reilly
Bennett

There's others but they don't really count, or they're local guys. Local guys I like:

Joe Pags (SA)
Charlie Parker (SA)
Sgt. Sam (Austin)

There was one other guy in SA who was good, but I forget his name. I think he said something offensive and got fired. I can't remember his name, but his show was called 'Commonsenseville'. I didn't listen to him much after I discovered Savage though.

Linda said...

Why, thought you were the only one who knew that? ;)

I'll rank mine...

My boyfriend
O'Reilly and Limbaugh tie
Ingraham
Hannity

Don't know the others enough to speak about em.

RecknHavic said...

Ok, I'll list my fave hate radio jocks...

Linda's boyfriend
Medved
El Rushbo
Prager
Savage
Ingram
Bennet

Tho I prob listen to Greg Laurie and Paul Shepard on KDRY (Christian radio) more often than most a the above.

I love makin lists :)

Linda said...

Christian radio??! That doesn't sound very bitter..what's the point? :)

RecknHavic said...

Oh, it's not the bitterness I'm goin for w/ CR, it's the intolerance. Lots & lotsa intolerance.

Nestor said...

Those are bad call letters for a Christian station. K.D.R.Y., dry talk for dry people. ;)

Honestly, I have a hard time listening to Christian radio. Some of the songs are good, but most of them are boring. Not that there aren't exciting songs that are about worshiping God, they just aren't on Christian radio. When Christian stations play people like Matisyahu (he's a Jew, but his songs are about worshiping God) P.O.D. Christian rappers, Christian Rock (not soft rock) etc. I'd listen. Not that the soft 'rock' doesn't have its place, but I can't listen to it all the time.

RecknHavic said...

They don't play music on KDRY, that I know of. And I know what you mean about "Christian" music, doesn't do much for me either. Tho I do like P.O.D. I always felt Collective Soul was "Christianish"; killer band.

I'd highly recommend you listen to Paul Shepard, some a the best "preachin" I've ever heard.

Ok I have to admit the video made me feel a little schizophrenic. God, rap and regae...it was overload..I blew a fuse.

Weird day at Choi...no one showed up but moi. Little private lesson thing goin on.

That performance was here in Austin during SXSW (south by southwest) last year.

Townhall.com says...

"Both presidential candidates are gingerly trying to strike the right chord on abortion as they reach out to a critical voting group _ independents and moderates, primarily women in swing-voting suburban regions of crucial states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio."

Hear that? I'm a critical voting group! Hooray! I feel so important!
