Rallyin'

Alright...not much to say here, but I'll give you the pics. Wasn't allowed to bring in the better camera, so they're not great....sorry! Security was tighter than the airport.

Doors opened at 3:00, so we left at about 2:20 for a 40 minute drive. When we got within 3 miles, we were gridlocked. It took us over an hour to go 2 miles. Later, we heard people were gettin there at 1:00. Who knew McCain had peeps? Not me.

So the speeches were a bit disappointing, as they were the exact thing we heard last night and the night before. Palin asked how we liked McCain's speech last night...I'm hopin that was rhetorical. She did the whole 'sold the jet on ebay...got rid of the chef, tho the kids miss her', etc. Hard sell to make when it's been heard. Not her fault, just reportin the facts. McCain's was much of the same. Having been in way too much traffic, we left early.

Oh and this little blond reporting, I think is the same gal I see often on Meet The Press. She was very concerned about her hair, and sprayed it a lot. Welcome to Michigan, honey.
(D's wearin a purple shirt due to his indecision! :) )

Stump speech, eh? Yeah, I think it's time to get on w/ some specifics (on both sides).

Very jealous.

Linda said...

Seriously, don't be. It woulda been better if we'd have gone reaaaaly early and gotten seats, but the lawn wasn't that exciting. Can you tell by the pic of D? :) I was sayin Palin's words as she was...

Linda said...

Had way too much pop tnite...gonna be in a world of hurt tryin to get to sleep...

RecknHavic said...

Well, you are a "hockey mom" after all.

Candidates stay on message and w/ what works (for short bursts). I've been youtubin Palin in different venues this evenin, she's the real deal.

What excites me about her is that she's totally hot.

Just kiddin.

What excites me about her is she's got great gams.

Ok..ok.. I'll be serious.
She is a regular gal. Reagan spoke from his experience as a regular guy. You can't fake that 'cause when you do you come off even more plastic.

Palin 2012!

RecknHavic said...

What's pop? Is that kinda like sooo-daah.

Linda said...

She does seem regular (?)..I'll give her that.

No. Pop is nothin like soda. It's like pop. Usually brown and bubbly.

Linda said...

And if caffienated, makes your HEART RACE and your EYES BUG OUT!!! Don't do it, kids.

RecknHavic said...

Ahhh, pop is coke. So I'm guessin it was pepsi.

The press, (aka) the democrat party, instinctively hates Palin. They hated Reagan. She's in good company.

Linda said...

Reagan was before my time. I was too busy in the 80's to bother with politics. Busy doin what? None of your business.

K, I'm gonna try and sleep. My heart is seriously racin...gonna have some whacked out dreams. I'll leave you to your buddy, Stan. ;) I'll be checkin in around 4am I'm thinkin. ugh..when will I learn...nite jay.

Just watched McCain Revealed on CNN, thought it was surprisinly fair. Now watchin Obama Revealed.

RecknHavic said...

So far it's ttl fluff for Obama, but I missed the first half a McCain's deal, so it might have been the same.

RecknHavic said...

Intetestin how CNN keeps referin to his "real life" experiences as a community organizer. Heard him speak as student prez of Harvard Law (sounds exactly as he does now). Nice bit on how he and Michele met. No such luck for McCain, bit about first failed marriage (they did mention Cindy McCain addiction to prescription drugs). Awww..

RecknHavic said...

Ok now, they did a fairly long bit on the Keating 5 (as they should have) on McCain. One 2 second mention of Rezco for Obama so far.

RecknHavic said...

Ok finally!

Delvin into his first run (and victory) as a state sen. Discribed as cut-throat. Got four other candidates disqualified. Turned on his (at that time mentor). There's some "red meat" I've been waitin for.

RecknHavic said...

Amazin how little he did in 8 yrs in state senate.

Just realized I'm eatin up alot a comments on what very well could be an incredibly borin topic.

Will hold off till it's over and if I can stay awake.

RecknHavic said...

It's tankfully over. They mentioned Rezco and Wright again tho they attepted to make Obama a victom of them.

Guess i was hopin it would be more fair.

Ok, was tryn to crash when CNN goes into a Palin hit piece. Do you realize that she said she listed the Governors jet on Ebay, BUT it didn't sell there. It sold through a private broker. Shame shame shame!!

Uh, aren't they missin the whole point a this thing. She said no to gov perks. Geez, it really is the Communist News Network.

Linda said...

Wow, I wish I woulda known you were commenting here! I missed a lot! Thanks for the play by play. I saw that on CNN, but didn't watch it. Sometimes it's all just too much for me.

RecknHavic said...

Ya, it CAN be alittle much sometimes.

Cold here this mornin. Ok, not really, just like sayn that.

Linda said...

Hey, it's 78 there...that's gotta feel pretty good! 62 here..toppin out at 72.

Have a nice time at church...

Nestor said...

CNN didn't mention Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers did they?

RecknHavic said...

Thanks, it was a good service. Had a new family join today and another joinin up next week. Our church is goin through a growth spurt.

RecknHavic said...

No mention of Ayers, tho I think that's a good thing. From what I read (other than a small donation from Ayers $200, yrs ago) I've seen nothin linkin BO to The WU.

Clinton however did pardon a couple of the WU members that were convicted. Ayers (tho he admits to settin off bombs) was never convicted. He shoulda been tho.

The CNN thing was informative, atleast to BO's background. He would make a good city counsel man or local activist, imo. He is in no way deservin of bein POTUS. Biden would be better (and that ain't sayn much).

Linda said...

I'm watching the Lions game. Tuned in a half hour late and we were down 21-0. ouch. We rallied and are down 21-14 at the half.

I'm a sexist when it comes to football commentaters. I don't wanna see ladies on the field talkin football, or interviewing players.

Nestor said...

Well, I'm sure Obama was smart enough to cover up the financial trail between him and Ayers. What concerns me is the influence. I could care less if Ayers gave him the $4000 or whatever it is you are allowed to give.

Linda said...

Have you guys seen those ads for AT&T, where the Peter Graves lookin guy in a suit is standing somewhere with a laptop in his hands? There's one w/ him on a beach w/ an airplane w/"Amelia" on it behind him and he says, "I'm Bill Curtis. I've just just discovered the internet." They're really pumpin em out fast now...today I saw the abomidable (?) snowman and a leprechan at the end of the rainbow. Lol!

RecknHavic said...

Not sure how you "prove" influence c/o Ayers (tho I imagine they have some beliefs in common).

Tye Rezco real estate deal (which they mention on the CNN thing btw) is troublin. I'm gonna start callin it Housegate.

Let's see, Rezco wike buys a lot next door (cause the seller would sell just the house, he wanted next door lot sold as well). Then the Obama's buy the house for $300,000 UNDER market value. Hmmmm....

As often as I've seen this stupid story about Palin's ex-bro in law (who's still a trooper btw) I've heard about Rezco once, for about 5 seconds.

Now I'm callin the whole thing Doublestandardgate.

Linda said...

Rezko's old news tho isn't he? Palin's fresh blood.

Linda said...

I remember Hannity yammering on about him night after night awhile back.

RecknHavic said...

Fox probably did do the Rezco thing. I don't recall the rest a the MSM doin it. In fact, how bout some delvin into Joe Biden? Most people know zero about him. If he's gonna possibly be a heartbeat away, shouldn't we know more about him?

Linda said...

So far today: banana and ONE cup a coffee for breakfast; turkey on wheat w/ mustard (oh, how I wish it's been miracle whip) and boston lettice.NO CHEESE! Snuck two raviolis from lil one's lunch. Beverages so far: diet green tea (zero calories).

Calorie count for today: 440ttl cal, 30 cal fat.

And yes, I'm freakin hungry.

Surprisingly, the banana was the highest single thing today cal wise.

Good site I just found: http://calorie-count.com/

RecknHavic said...

I just like the ego hit he took. It brings me joy.

RecknHavic said...

Ok, so I gotta question. Iv'e consumed roughly 450 calories today. But, accordin to Calorie counter, 3 hours a hangin, tape/floatin drywall I burned 900 calories. So does this mean I'm -550 for the day?

I gotta contact Mrs Nestor.

RecknHavic said...

Ahhh...sugars. This whole calorie thing is trickier than I first surmised.

Yes, whenever Ubermann takes one on the chin it's nice.

Linda said...

That's what it means..tho 900 sounds like a lot of burned up calories.

Hey I forgot to ask..
when you went to the rally, is Palin as hot..uh..I mean..inspirin in person as she is on tv?

Linda said...

Ha..ruthless! She'll be back for more...

Reg. Palin...like I said, she repeated the same thing, so no it wasn't that inspiring. Some of those cute anecdotes are tough to pull off over and over. And I don't find her hot...cute, I'll give her.

Linda said...

Expounding...

My opinion...it's palatable when a politician repeats their ideologies. They're supposed to. But when they repeat cute little stories that have already gotten laughs because they sounded fresh and inspiring, it loses it's legitimacy and starts sounding disingenuous. Like you said before...time to get on w/ some specifics.

RecknHavic said...

I'm thinkin this sunday when she does the talk show circuit will learn alittle more.

I like how they're tryn to "Wright" her now cause a her church. The more they (the press aka the democrats) attack her in a personal way, the more popularity she'll garner.

When it comes to policy, they're already tryn to paint her as an extremist. Tho, I admit, a sittin gov who turns down the perks (private jet, cook, chafer, etc)of office must seem like an extremest to them.

Palin 2012

Linda said...

I know, we were watching CNN last night and they were doin a piece on her church. They interviewed a lady who attends her church and she was talking about how people "speak in tongues" when they're "touched by the lord", etc. D paused it and goes, 'now you know they interviewed a bunch of people and said to production...use the person who sounds the whackiest'.

My sil agrees w/ you reg. the personal thing. She was hopin the dems would stay quiet, thinkin it would backfire on them. I dunno...I sorta think it's a wash. (Even amt. of people influenced by her or not.)

RecknHavic said...

Latest ABC pollin: white women Obama +8 prior to Palin; white women McCain +12 since Palin joinin ticket.

RE: talkin in tongues. I doubt that it's as prevalent as people claim. I've certainly never heard anyone do it. Tho I think it's possible. But, that women who was interviewed (and D'd right, you know they were smilin when they found her) seemed to know little about it. The Apostle Paul states that IF a person speaks in tongues everyone else is to be quite and that another spiritual gift is someone who interprets it (not like that chic said: that only God understands).

Linda said...

Those women are dorks. The fact that she's a woman shouldn't change your entire political stance. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were on the fence in the first place.

I can't speak to the speaking in toungues. Even if I could, you couldn't understand me. :)

RecknHavic said...

Linda said...

Ha..what I can't have observations of my own?

Well when they poll "white women" who's to know?

question...what does "[sic]" mean in people's comments?

Real hotdogs? Cuz you'll probably save a few cals gettin reduced fat or free. Then you can eat 6! :)

I was gonna ask you about the Alaskan pipeline deal in relation to Palin but then I realized I'd have to ask you what it actually IS first. I know. So I googled it...and it's an actual pipe! Above ground! That transports oil the whole length of Alaska!

K, now that I know what it is...what's up with it? What's it got to do w/ Palin? Wasn't it finished in 1977? I don't get it.

Linda said...

Ha! So much for bein the smart one!

RecknHavic said...

Staight from Wikipedia..

Sic is a Latin word meaning "thus", "so", "as such", or "just as that". In writing, it is placed within square brackets and usually italicized—[sic]—to indicate that an incorrect or unusual spelling, phrase, punctuation, and/or other preceding quoted material has been reproduced verbatim from the quoted original and is not a transcription error.[1]

RecknHavic said...

That's the old one (that my father-in-law helped build btw) that transports oil.

The new one is (will be upon completion) a natural gas pipeline. They'd (Alaska) had been tryn to get this done for a LONG time (negotiations w/ Canada a factor as well). Palin "closed the deal".
Economically it's gonna benefit Alaska alot and the US as well. It's actually a pretty big deal. Not bad for a hockey mom, religious extremest.

RecknHavic said...

You'll hafta judge for yourself.

Biden today, “There’s no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick,"

Are these sexist remarks? Again, you be the judge.

Linda said...

That pig comment just sounded familiar...like I'd heard it before Palin was in the picture. But I'll look into it.

Linda said...

Alright, I googled it. It appears that this is a fairly common expression? metaphor? whatever...

Obama was quoted sayin it in 2007 in regards to Bush and Petreaus, reg. the war. McCain apparently said it in response to Hillary's health care plan. Ill timed, sure, but I'm not gonna go ga-ga over this one. That bein said, Biden's seemed a little odd. He's talkin directly about HER and her record, and not the concept of change.

There's my 2 cents. Thoughts?

RecknHavic said...

Sounds like to me the dim ticket's tryn to sell a pig in a polk :)

Obama's was ill timed you mean? I think it was an attempt at humor (that failed).

Biden's was a direct shot at women, imo.

Linda said...

Yeah, I meant Obama's was ill-timed. Meaning he's said it before, but now that Palin said the whole "lipstick" joke, now it's being looked at differently. Like I said about Biden, it was done differently, tho I think he meant it in the same way. He's just a doof and screwed it up. These people aren't idiots...and they're watchin their words pretty closely. They know not to make a sexist remark, so I'm thinking flub.

Again, that being said, I'm not real sensitive to "sexist" remarks.

Linda said...

Being that this is the first time I've REALLY been watching politics before a presidential election...has it always been like this? Or is this an internet thing? The lies that come out of both sides, the exagerations, the rumors, etc. It's pretty dangerous. There are people who take internet gossip at face value...scary.

Linda said...

Good luck with Ike! Maybe you should invite your parents over so they have a reason to leave early! ;)

That may be true...but there was a lot of Obama rumors out there as well that are stupid if you research em.

Little one had first soccer practice tnite. The kid's a dynamo. Never played before..put him in T's shin guards and shorts from when T was FOUR (B's a peanut), and he ran around the front yard kickin the ball like he'd been at it for years. Came home (D took him) and wanted to sleep in the shin guards. Fun stuff.

If you mean web rumors, then ok. Personally, I think Obama has gotten a major pass on policy. Liberals always do. The personal stuff is all just a distraction.

Watchin Beck. He's got the right opinion on Fannie and Freddie imo.

Not sure what you mean by 'major pass on policy'....

Nestor said...

Can I take this one.

Stephanopolous (paraphrasing): What is your definition of victory in Iraq?

Obama (paraphrasing): Well, uh, George Bush brought us into a war we never should have been in. Had I been president we wouldn't be in Iraq right now. The troops are doing an excellent job, but what's really changed things has been the Sunni awakening and the standing down of the Shia militias (Nestornote: The Shia militias didn't 'stand down', they were beaten into submission by the Air Cavalry and the surge in ground forces) so you see there's a tricky situation here. John McCain wants to keep us there forever and even George Bush supports a timeline. (Nestornote: George Bush doesn't support the same type of timeline that Barack Obama does, Obama wants a hard deadline while Bush's deadline would be adjusted forward or backward depending on conditions on the ground)

Stephanopolous thinking (with puzzled look): I asked him what is victory, did he answer my question?

The major media is not asking him the hard questions. I was shocked in the Stephanopolous interview, because George S. was really asking him difficult questions, and when Obama ducked them GS didn't cut him slack. However very few interviewers have cut him this type of slack. I'm curious if O'Reilly asked Obama the difficult questions or if he played softball like he did with Hillary.

RecknHavic said...

Well said Nestor.

here's a good question I'd like them to ask: Senator O, how much ear marked spending have YOU voted for?

I won't hold my breath.

RecknHavic said...

OH, here's a good q to ask..

Sen Obama , you and your runnin mate, Sen Joe Biden, have been critical of Gov Palin's percieved flip-flop on the Bridge To No Where, sayn "she voted for it, before she voted against it."
Please explain why both you and Sen Biden voted for it?

Nestor said...

Well put on the bridge to nowhere Reck.

I'd say this, John McCain is far more direct in his answering of questions. Obama rarely answers a tough one. McCain usually answers his questions. He flubs some of the easy ones, like the house one, but you don't see him dancing around a lot of questions. He answers with conviction. I disagree with McCain, a lot. But I feel like I know where he stands on most issues. Obama...not so much. He doesn't really tell anyone what he really believes, because he never answers a tough question.

Stephen Hawking, interview with Daily Telegraph

Dang, early bird. Plannin on gettin the worm tday?

RecknHavic said...

Actually they'll be no worm gettin today. Wife's ill (stomach virus) and youngest still outta school (sick) so I canceled my mornin job.

Noticed the Hawking's thing did ya?

Linda said...

Oh wow...good luck staying healthy surrounded by that lot! I mean..get well soon S's!

I noticed cuz I felt like I'd been thrown into some kind of alternative universe.

Tell em, Neil!

Hey, are you guys gonna wanna do the Survivor draft this season? I never really asked you. I'll understand if you're too scared..I mean not interested. (because you're scared.) I do have other friends I can do this with ya know. Yeah..not really, but I might be able to find some before Thursday.

If you're in, we need to think about when to draft. I'm not gonna be around as much next week, cuz my bro's comin in from Seattle w/ the neice I've not yet met. Gonna be spending some time at my 'rents where they're staying.

RecknHavic said...

Definitely pencil us in for Sur draft.

Does it start this thurs or next?

Feeling spacey today I see.

Starts a week from tomorrow. 18 people which gives us 4 each w/ a remainder of 2. (I know, I'm brilliant.) I think that's how it worked out last time, too. Start researchin, Havic. Throw a day out there for draft nite.

Linda said...

I'm gonna change a couple things. 10 pts is a bit much for guessin first out...too hard to catch up. And I should raise pts. for findin idol...I gave 5 for finding, but took 2 away for being sent to exile. HEY! WAKE UP! This is important stuff!!

I'm drinkin hot chocolate outta the Texas mug. :) Brrr....

RecknHavic said...

We'll needa a couple a days to do alittle sur research. How bout this fri evenin, before your fam gets in. Or sat would work as well.

Still in the 70's here, so there's that. rain just missed us yesterday, hopin we get some today.

Joy Behar said today that Palin wasn't "pro animal" cuz she approves of shooting wolves from the air, hunting caribou and she doesn't care about the polar bears.

I wonder if she burns ants with a magnifying glass or puts frogs in the microwave?

Love the Capt Kirk quote, addin it to my arsonel.

I'm thinkin she's not on PETA's mailin list.

"This is no simple reform. It really is a revolution. Linda said...

Just heard Hannity on the radio say he doesn't think Obama can "recover from this", in ref. to the lipstick remark. Good grief...has everyone lost their minds???

RecknHavic said...

What a day.

S fell and busted her shin while truckin to the bathroom. Oldest exhalin some punctuated "sighs" when I assign chores (hey, summer vacations over, no job=extra chores; for grads only). That's the price you pay when dad's home all day :) Youngest not gettin to eat what she wants (I'm regulatin her calories as well). Unfortunetly we've let her eatin (amount that is) kinda get outta control. Like me, she's an enthusiastic eater.

Got a call from her teacher a few minutes ago; they want to test her for dyslexia. Now, I might be speakin from ignorance here, but how can you get straight A's and have aixelsyd?

Linda said...

Wow, that IS some day! I hate when they sigh..the oldest tries that ocassionally. Kids don't know how good they have it (till I tell em.)

That's a good question reg. dyslexia. I don't know. Did they say WHY they wanna test her?

RecknHavic said...

teacher last year had said she showed signs and new teacher was followin up. Oh, and they found out she comes from a conservative family, so they just assume.

Linda said...

Well I assumed she showed signs, knucklehead, I meant what kinda signs. Well, better to catch somethin like that sooner than later, but it doesn't sound like it's much of a problem if it even is one.

I thought everyone in Texas came from a conservative family. :)

RecknHavic said...

You've obviously never been to Austin.

I've seen no signs unless writin is a sign. She starts her "s"'s from the bottom instead a the top and "e"'s as well. other than that, beats me.

Monopoly time. Btw, youngest and I played again yesterday and she took me out in like 30 minutes. She was a good winner; very little tauntin. She did remind that the loser put the gm up tho:)

I WILL be the shoe, thank you very much.

Linda said...

I bought Monopoly tday for B's bday. I'm gettin jealous of your game playing. I thought it was too old for him, but he said he's played at a friend's house. Also bought Sorry..that one's easy.

Take no prisoners.

"Lipstick on a pig"

Nestor said...

142 cont'd.

For any extended period of time that is.

RecknHavic said...

Let the games begin. I'm bettin on B in Monopoly ans T in Sorry.

"Lipstick on a pig"
Isn't that actually from Deliverance.

RecknHavic said...

And don't let em swindle ya on property trades. Oh..they'll do that.

Linda said...

I've never really played I don't think. I'll have to read the directions, so I'll probably be easy to swindle. T doesn't like games, I'll have to make him! You're bettin on the 6 yr. old to take me in Monopoly?? Thanks a lot!

N: Everyone who's offended by this has never been to Texas.

I think you have to have been to get the joke, too, cuz I don't. :)

That scene in that movie scarred me for life.

Nestor said...

Linda,

What 'lipstick on a pig' means is that you are taking the same thing you've seen for a long time and trying to make it look different.

For example, if I take a 1980 Ford Pinto (we had one when I was a kid) with messed up paint, messed up interior and a messed up engine, and give it a new paint job, it's still a piece of junk. It just looks better. (or different)

What I truly believe Obama was trying to say is something like this; "Palin is the same type of Republican in the mold of George Bush and Dick Cheney. They are trying to paint her as a 'maverick' and a reformer. A McCain/Palin ticket is 4 more years of Bush/Cheney...blah, blah, blah, uh, well, uh."

That's what the 'lipstick on a pig' comment was supposed to say, without so many uhs and wells and errs.

Nestor said...

I'm pretty glad that I've never seen that movie.

Linda said...

I hear ya..I thought you meant it in a different way concerning Texas, is all.

I'll go a step further and say he wasn't speaking specifically of Sarah Palin. Really, he was talking about McCain when he said it, tho it applies to the two of them combined on the ticket. Much ado about nothin, in my opinion.

RecknHavic said...

It was a weak attempt at humor imo.

Well, it's been a long freakin day. Took S to the emergency rm around 9:30. Couple a IV's and a few x-rays later and were back. Bad *ss stomach flu, she was dangerously dehydrated. Fixin to go p/u the scripts and then get me a couple a hours a rack time; massive day manana. Seriously crossin my fingers nobody else gets this cr*p.

Btw Nest, never, ever watch that movie.

Linda said...

Oh that's terrible...hope she's feeling better today. Have a good (massive) day!

RecknHavic said...

She's feelin alittle better thanks.

I decided to just eat the coffee grounds this mornin. Why bother w/ that whole hot water thing.

Lookin like Ike may not effect us (B-town) so much, we'll see.

Linda said...

I recommend a black tea bag between your cheek and gum.

Nestor said...

Reck,

Hope she gets better soon. I'll be praying for you all.

RecknHavic said...

Just a pinch'll do ya.

Thanks nest.
