I looked out this morning and saw this...I thought it was hilarious. We put up these markers for the first time this year. They mark where the driveway and lawn meet so when it's snowy and you can't see the difference, you don't drive on your grass all winter. I'm sure it works...when you don't run em over. :)

Doh!

Linda said...

Two of the fish seem funny. They're staying real close to the top. Not good.

RecknHavic said...

Wadya mean? Remember, you got a 2 week guarantee.

Fixin to test my, "if it's not cold out I can getta better deal on firewood" theory.
Wish me luck.

Linda said...

We returned em. Savin one life at a time... that's us. It was obvious they weren't gonna make it. I need heartier fish. My PH is high and likely won't come down due to well water, so I need fish that can take it. Fish that'll man up, if you will.

Any luck?

Linda said...

I mean "hardier" not "heartier"!
They don't need to have big hearts.

RecknHavic said...

Dry run for me & Bobo; nobody there. Picked up some bbq to sooth the wasted trip.

Linda said...

I had tons of dreams last night. I frequently have one where I can't control my car, can't keep it in the lane..I over correct and go flyin off the road- then I wake up. Last night, in the dream, I was convinced this one wasn't a dream, cuz after I went off the road, I called 911, went to the police station, etc. That never happens, so I thought it was real.(Course the cop was really cute and asked me if I had implants..that shoulda tipped me off to the whole 'dream' thing. I don't think I was thinkin about it at that point. Think I'll sue him for S.Harrassment. if I see him again.) Anyhoo, long night of weird dreams.

B home w/ cold. Can't seem to keep em healthy around here.

RecknHavic said...

Uh..interestn dream there. I dreamt a ribs, the bbq kind.

Sorry to hear bout B. He needs kid zinc (if it exists)

Lil S's results from blood work came back yesterday and she has...get ready..mono.
It's time for the talk ;)
Poor kid, I really gave her a hard time latter part a last week thinkin she was milkin the stayn home sick stuff. The stiff neck and bein tired alot shoulda been a tip. Anyhow, had it myself when I was a teenager. Funny tho...mono.

Linda said...

That IS weird! I didn't know people still got that. That woulda been the last thing on my radar. I had it in college. Be quiet. What a drag!

Poorin rain here and I gotta drag B out to Choi. I'm almost starting to resent the commitment. 5 more days...

RecknHavic said...

You must finish grasshopper.

Which, btw, is what Survivorman tells himself all the time.

Linda said...

I know. Today was a great time. I always complain before I go, but am glad I went. That's why I struggle with this hiatus. Oh well..

Linda said...

Oh! Don't know if your Subways down there have the flat bread sandwiches yet, (if ever), but if they do, you should try the chicken florentine. Omg. I had mine w/ toms, onion, black olives and jalepenos...to die for. I was told they're replacing the wrap. Guess that's ok w/ me...didn't get wraps much anyhoo.

Try it Mr. I Never Listen to Linda's Recommendations. Sheesh. It's not like you have to drive 60 miles to the nearest Subway, like say, a Shlotsky's here. Or that you have to get off the highway w/ the kids in the back and drive into Podunk, USA to find it. And it's not like you have to PAY the meter just to park the car to go in and order a sandwich, when you coulda just driven thru a Mickey D's. And it's not like your kids won't want that, so you have to go to Mickey D's anyway. And it's not like- ok, I'm done.

RecknHavic said...

Yes, I'll try to "condition" my brain w/ your advice and "vacuum" out all the negativity. Or perhaps the next time I travel (albeit a short trip) to Schlotsky's to order a non existent paninni, I'll force them to make me one :)

I know...I know...it's that whole "Whale Rider" thing isn't it.

Linda said...

Ha! That's actually an awesome visual. "I KNOW you have paninis! Make me a PANINIIIII!!!"

No, I'm over that. :)

RecknHavic said...

Our forecast via TWC tonite: rain/snow showers/wind.

It's fun seein it in writtin atleast.

Linda said...

I feel a fire brewin! Still raining here. Have you seen the radar over MI today? Ugly.

Linda said...

I needed to order new checks, so I got Smithsonian Institution; Nat'l Air and Space Museum pictures. Oh they're geeky, but they're really cool.

RecknHavic said...

You're geeky :)

Yes, nasty lookin up yalls way.
Ok, chance a sleet after midnite and snow in early mornin (tho temps may not reach freezin, so no stickage).

Still...

RecknHavic said...

Gonna go get our tree tonite, which is goog timin as it will be cold. More Christmasy!

RecknHavic said...

So, Dev & I had this bet; loser has to take a dishnite for the other. The bet was, did Cloris Leachmen say " scanky hoe, or nappy hoe" on Dancin? I went w/ nappy confusin it w/ Imus' statement and lost. Anyhow, we asked S to clarify and while we're talkin (arguein) about it Lil S (who was in the rm) started sayn, in a sing-along voice, "nappy headed hoe..nappy headed hoe".

Not good.

Linda said...

Lol! Nice! I missed that whole thing. I know she said "stay close to the candles...the stairway CAN be trecherous" in Young Frankenstein, tho.

Enjoy the dishes!

Linda said...

Gettin picked up here in a minute for a drink. Friend's havin fiance troubles again...gotta sort him out. (ie. dump her)

Didja get that tree?

Linda said...

I'm back. Well that was interesting.

RecknHavic said...

Hmmm...define interestin.

Well, we ended up gettin our tree at Walmart. It's nice, gonna deco it manana.

And guess what, when we got outta the van a few minutes ago it was sleetin. Only for a few minutes but still.
Come on snow!

Linda said...

Yea sleet! That's almost snow! I'm sure if you stay up a little, you'll see some! (ok, this is a little pathetic, but I'll roll with it.)

Oh it's just that this girl is a nutjob, and he's still bearin with it. I keep tellin him to pretend it's me sayin these things about a guy I'm with and he gets it, but it's hard for him to break it off. Whatever. It just kills me to think of him dealin w/ a personality like that.

Linda said...

Hmmmmm...Walmart, eh? Maybe we'll try that next year, tree guru.

RecknHavic said...

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was just sm hail, but the kids thought it was sleet. I'll let em stay excited.
Still, ya never know.

We went to Lowes, but their selection wasn't great. Hit one tree lot but pleeeaaasseee. I'm not payn THAT much for a tree.
40 bucks at Walmart.

Sorry to hear about your bud. Tough to see things clearly when your in that kinda situation.

Ok, now were gettin a thunder storm. Weird.

Linda said...

Dang Reck, that little system of snow is gettin dangerously close to you! Looks like rain right now according to the radar. I'm thinkin you could load the family into the car and go north to see yourselves some snow! Pack the flashlights and get to it! :)

Our selection at Lowes wasn't great either. But again, you combine really cold temps, with decision making and you pretty much grab what's decent just to get home.

Linda said...

Which is why btw, there was no pic of the kids with the tree. They were hunkered down inside the sliding glass Lowes' doors watching us pick it.

Think B will be home again tomorrow. I'm usually a 'one day home sick and back to school' kinda mom, but he's lookin peaked.

RecknHavic said...

He should stay home one more day.

Yeah, since the roads aren't icy, I thought about it. In fact, if lil one wasn't still in recovery mode (and hadn't missed so much school lately) we'd do it.

Linda said...

Ha, you're cute, and totally projecting your lack of belief of S last week onto B, but I'll take it. It gives me an extra day to snuggle him with his footy pajamas on anyway. It's a win win.

RecknHavic said...

You don't know how hard it is for me to NOT hop in the ol van right now. 30 mins and I'm seein flakes. Dang!

Linda said...

I think you should go do it. It's early...go by yourself. See those flakes!

Linda said...

What am I sayin? 30 minutes? That's far. And you'll probably get freezing rain on the way. Stay safe and by the fire. It'll come your way soon enough.

Linda said...

You just witnessed my schizophrenic nature.

RecknHavic said...

That's ok. I goin back and forth w/ it myself. But, the kicker is that the kiddos & wife would miss out if I go it alone. Can't do it. Gonna take the latter advice and go from fireside to compute radar. Not lookin like I'll be doin much trabajo manana anyway.

Linda said...

Now you're gonna make me check your radar...

Linda said...

If only you were in Kerrville. Thinkin they're gettin big white fluffy stuff. Let me know if you get a glimpse...headin to bed. gn! Oh, wish me luck with those dreams, eh? Whatta pain!

RecknHavic said...

GL!

Yeah, Kerrville's been gettin some for couple a hours. Ahhh...Kerrville.

Stared to finally sleet here right now. Snow (on radar atleast) not too far away. I'm such a dork I;ll prob stay up till I see atleast one flake.

gn, hope lil one gets better real soon.

Linda said...

Any luck, snow seeker?

We have a street around here named Welfare. I think that's funny. "We live on Welfare, how about you?" I smirk every time I pass it.

Linda said...

I was just google earthin around Kerrville. The streetlights are still sideways, so I don't see the big advantage in movin.

Do you have your "street view" box checked when you G.E? It's so cool to go down to street level and look around.

RecknHavic said...

No snow. Altho on radar there was some just west a here bout 20 mins ago.

I'll hafta try it, tho I haven't had much luck w/ GE.

Linda said...

Aw shucks.

How do you mean you haven't had much luck w/ it?

RecknHavic said...

As in I can't quite figure out how to a) access it and b) navigate it when I do.

Got the tree trimmed (not as in decoed, but shaped) fixin to put on lites. We'll prob get it decoed tonite, I'm hopin (big kids workin, lil one's make up work, etc.) We did setup the village tho.

RecknHavic said...

Gonna grill some fish tonite, getta fire goin, decorate tree..ahhh...I'm in heaven.

RecknHavic said...

Btw, grandma work up to a lite dustin this mornin. Lucky grandma.

Linda said...

Yeah, I'd say that's not havin much luck with it. There's a lot of street level pictures down round your parts. It's a 360 degree panoramic type deal. Neat.

She didn't get run over by a reindeer, did she?

RecknHavic said...

Just gotta call from Wailer who stopped on his way home from work because of ALL THE SNOW!!

Life is unfair.

Linda said...

Ouch.

That heads up was so YOU guys could watch and learn. It looked really good actually. D was reachin for the Crestor just watchin it. Man vs. Food was what it was called.

Linda said...

Ha! I asked D to take the garbage out to the garage tonight and while he's doin it he says, "It looks like the slots for the drawstrings on this bag aren't cut in the right place." This leads me to two conclusions:

1. If he's just noticing now, he doesn't take the garbage out enough.

2. He was telling the truth when he said he never reads my blog.

:)

Linda said...

Well I'm goin up early to read. I'm trying to finish this book..Marly and Me..that my sil insisted I read. You may have seen adverts for the movie comin out. It's supposed to be this really heart-warming, touching, tear jerker about a couple and their dog. I must have no soul, cuz I've not been moved an iota. I just wanna finish it so I don't have to think about finishing it anymore. I know...I need to find my happy place.
GN, and have fun decorating!!

RecknHavic said...

Thanks!

S and oldest read it and said they liked it; didn't rave on it tho.

Man vs Food, you know I'm gonna watch it now. BUT, I make an excellent chicken fried steak; Corpus DOES NOT.

gn!

Linda said...

Finished it. I guess the end was the emotional part, and it verified that I indeed do have a soul, so that was good. Now I can start The Christmas Sweater!

It's funny, when Glenn gets calls or mail from people who say they read it in one sitting, or over a weekend, he always ooohs and ahhhhs and explains that it's almost 300 pages long and that that's no small feat. (Implying how riviting it is.) So I found it and it's like 7 inches tall. :)

RecknHavic said...

You should join the Oprah book club ;)

Watchin TWC and H-town got 1/2" to 2" of snow. Cajuns gettin it now. Lucky Cajuns.

Linda said...

Lol...cajuns.

I'm off to B's school..helpin out. Don't forget today is Thursday! Hooray! D's headin up north, so I'll try to get his picks before he leaves.

Linda said...

Teacher had me copying and laminating. Bummer. I like busy work and all, but I think Ben was excited to have me comin in and I didn't get to spend any time in the classroom. Tho tomorrow I'm the mystery reader. Readin a story to the class and they don't know who's comin. :) Off to Choi!

Linda said...

D: Matty rew., Bob imm, Sugar out

L: Crystal rew., Matty imm, Sugar out.

Crystal's gotta win something eventually, right? Right?

RecknHavic said...

No.

Mystery reader...excitin.

Everytime you mention choi I think a that old commercial.."La Chow makes chinese food..sing..American." Probablt not spellin any a that right.

S not home yet but I got her picks.

S- Bob rew, Bob imm, Crystal out.

R- Bob rew, Matty imm, Bob out (hope not tho, really want him to win).

Linda said...

Jeez, I think you're right about Crystal. I'm not done watchin..had to pause to put the kids to bed. Good call on rew., tho! Hope I didn't spoil that.

RecknHavic said...

We saw it. Glad about the outcome. Hope I didn't spoil it.

Anonymous said...

I'm still watchin it. Just saw Bob win imm. Dang Summer! Nice intuition! I don't want Kenny or Crystal...I'd like to see a Sugar, Matty, Bob final 3.

RecknHavic said...

Our words exactly! Ok, that prob was a spoiler.

Anonymous said...

That switch was great. I wonder why Crystal and not Kenny, tho, as he does so well with challenges. I guess Bob wouldn't have gone for that. A little too mean.

Summer rocked it tonight!!

Old draft:
R:72
S: 51
L: 48
D: 36

New:
S: 17
R: 11
D:7
L:7

Tonight was huge for S...the Havics are lookin good!

RecknHavic said...

Finally.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, tho unless Kenny wins next one he prob outski.

I tell ya, from the beginnin I never woulda thought I'd pull for Sugar, but I like her. Still want Bob to win (was afraid he'd pulla Yao-man).

Anonymous said...

How's the little one feeling? I barely remember mono. I think I remember missing a week of classes and sleeping a lot. Then I could get back to all that kissin I missed over the week. ;)

RecknHavic said...

So, just got through doin some varnishin in the garage...ohhh yeaahhh.

My dad was so prouda that stick he found hikin (see pics) that I thought ahead and brought it back. Trimmed it down and stained it yesterday. One more coata varnish tonite (if it'll dry quick enough) and we're gonna give it to him for Christmas. S, youngest and the boy are headin to H-town manana (party for my nephew who heads to marine boot camp the 15th a Dec) and they're gonna see em sunday.

We're not gonna be able to make it there for Christmas cause a kids work schedule.
Gonna go to grandma's C-day (in LG) and spend the nite tho. Hadn't had the chance to be there much last couple a yrs and she's gettin up there. Durn, that made me sad.

RecknHavic said...

She's fine and dandy. She always bounces back quick.
Thanks for askin tho.

B?

RecknHavic said...

Ahhh..laptop and fire I see.

Linda said...

He's good, too. Just a mild cold now. Yep, fire. I'm about to post a..post about why I love Sugar.
