Monuments!

We were dropped off at the Lincoln.

View from the Lincoln.

Zoomed in view. WW2 Memorial on the right with all the wreaths.

Vietnam Memorial

Korean Memorial. Tony did a report on this last year, so he was really excited to see it in person! We're gonna give this picture to his 3rd grade teacher.

This wall is part of the Korean. The images are etched in, so they're feeling it. I love this picture.

Heading to the Washington
Memorial!

The neatest thing about being at the Washington, is the views. Looking West, you see the Lincoln, looking East you see the Capitol and looking North is the White House. Being at this spot ranks up there with the best part of the whole trip for me.

Looking North

Looking East (It's not under attack. Kites.)

Looking West
Boys playing and not really caring about the view, of which their mom can't stop taking pictures.

This is the closest we could get to the White House that day. My brother got closer earlier in the week, so somethin was going on.

That's some pretty cool site seein stuff. That etched Korean Memorial is very impressive!

Did you feel history pressin down on ya when you were there?

Can't help but think about Forrest Gump runnin out to meet Jenni in the water at the Wash Mem.

RecknHavic said...

Dev just asked if the sky & trees where etched into the Korean Mem?

Ahhh.. to be young again...

Linda said...

Yes, we talked about Jenny in the reflecting pool, too. The kids even remembered that.

That's very funny. Those walls are really reflecting, on the Vietnam, too. D took a cool pic from his cell of the 4 of us at the Vietnam, of just our reflections.

I just used variants of the word "reflection" 3 times in one post.

Make that 4.

RecknHavic said...

Gettin into teacher mode are we?

Linda said...

No, just thought it was peculiar. Doesn't happen every day. At least to me. Maybe you reflect more than I do.

Linda said...

I need to watch a good movie.

Chris Matthews was givin your gov a hard time tonight about this succession talk, when apparently it's not possible. Thoughts? (About the topic in general, not on C.M., I know your thoughts on him.:))

There were these guys in 1776 who decided to secede from England.

Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, Perry?

Linda said...

I think ya'll just best settle down. :)

Sports update:

Ben's (we've no idea if they have a name) baseball team are 1-1. It's "coach pitch" all but the last 3 (painful) innings when it's "kid pitch". He was 2-1 in hitting today.

Wings are 1-0 in their series with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Game 2tonight at 6:00 Eastern.

Nestor said...

He was 2 for 1? He got two hits in one at bat? That IS impressive. ;) I'm not sure what you really mean by 2-1 so could you explain it to me. Only the first part was supposed to sound smartalecky, so if it still sounds that way, my bad.

RecknHavic said...

Yeah, the 2-1 confused me as well. Is it a date? An out from the 1st baseman to the pitcher? he was 2 for three? One for 2?

Ok, that all WAS meant smartalecky.

I watched Unforgiven last, that'd be worth watchin for ya.

RecknHavic said...

Those are some cool kites, btw.

Linda said...

Oh, I meant he got 2 hits for 3 at bats.

Linda said...

I think I saw Unforgiven a long time ago. Can't really remember.

NY Rangers beating Wash 1-0 in the 3rd.

We've been cleaning house. Having a couple over to watch the game and gettin rid of the kiddies tonight. Possible bon fire after the game. It's beautiful here today.

Go Wings!

Rockets at Portland tonite (9:30 our time, tomorrow your time.

sounds nice.

Linda said...

Should be interesting. We've only met the him half once a couple years ago. She's the gal I hooked up from high school on facebook. They live real close, so I'd like to get a little friendship going. Someone to call to meet for dinner, etc. Easier couple to do that with, too, as they don't have kids, and we like to lock ours in the closet.

That's a late game. (I looked it up to see if we get it or if we have to wait till tomorrow. I hate you.)

RecknHavic said...

S is into that facebook thing as well. Somethin about old boy frien...

Hey, wait a minute!

Linda said...

It's kinda nice. Makes you feel like you have friends when you really don't. Matt calls em my "fake friends".

RecknHavic said...

Matt's not real is he?

Linda said...

No. (dang it, can't get anything by you.)

Linda said...

Friends haven't shown up yet. Maybe they ARE fake friends. An hour late with no call is normal, right? ;)

Linda said...

2 hours late. Didn't answer text or phone call. I'm not easily irritated...but I'm getting there.

RecknHavic said...

Atleast you got the Rockets to keep you company. Or, maybe there on Texas time.

Linda said...

I'm not a happy camper.

Nestor said...

They probably forgot, or accidentally double booked. However, it would have been nice of them to at least respond. Bummer.

Nestor said...

But on the bright side, how bout them Rangers!

Linda said...

A call woulda been nice, that's all. Coulda gone out and enjoyed the game with other people since we bothered to get sitters. I don't wanna talk about the money we spent on food. Or the time spent on cleaning. Ok, I'm done.

I know! Good for them! Enjoy that while it lasts!

RecknHavic said...

How bout them Rockets! # more and we actually win a playoff series.

Good for the Rangers, good for the Wings!

And good nite!

Nestor said...

What was the final of the Rockets game? 120-70?

RecknHavic said...

You're close, won by 27. Yao barely played in the 2nd half.

It has pretty much been upset city so far w/ Celtics & Spurs losin their openers.

Linda said...

Baked a 20 lb turkey today.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Nestor said...

Sounds great! We had one last sunday for Easter. Hope everything turned out well.

Linda said...

Alright. I need advice on this gal who pulled the no show last night. She's on facebook commenting on the weather. Do I send her a message asking what happened or do I blow her off completely? Clearly, she's not in the hospital due to a car wreck. Remember..I texted her and called her last night, so I'm thinking she must know she blew us off. I've gotten no message from her today. Thoughts?

Linda said...

Yes, the bird was good. Gonna make soup tnite with the stock. I don't really like real stock, tho. Too greasy. But, we'll see.

Linda said...

I gotta say, the "Wonder Hangers" look pretty good. It's no Topsy Turvy tomato grower...but look at all the room you save!!

RecknHavic said...

The "Wonder Hangers" are a good buy. Definitely a space saver, no wrinkles in the clothes.

Re: your "so-called" friends, why not just admit it, they're make-believe, right?
Seriously, it's a tough call. It's pretty rude to not show or return a call or whatever.

Linda said...

Yeah, I've decided not to say anything to her...maybe ever.

So I was wondering if last week when you were watching Lost and Hurley asked the other guy how to spell "bounty hunter" if you knew he was writing Star Wars. Maybe because it's on so much here, but I knew when he asked that what he was doing. Funny.

Linda said...

Am I to believe you OWN the Wonder Hangers?

Linda said...

Whoa. Miss California just said in answer to the all important "question portion of the pageant", that she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman. AND Perez Hilton (gay dude) asked the question.

Prediction: She won't win, and then it'll be all over Fox News tomorrow addressing the possibility of her loss being blamed on that answer. (And D says then she'll get a job on Fox.)

Nestor said...

Not Fox, PJTV.

Linda said...

There's an all pajama network?? Cool!

RecknHavic said...

Yes, we own TWO sets of wonder hangers, 4 bendy hangers and 2 of the closet lite things. We're cool like that.

Way to go Miss Cali!

No, I never caught it (tho you're right, they do reference it alot). Course I was talkin w/ S today & said somethin about somethin and then said, "It doesn't matter, it's a mute point". After she stopped laughin she explained it to me.

Did ya catch AR tonite? It was almost a mute through down.

Linda said...

I did see it. Signing mom was fierce!

In your second paragraph, are you talkin about the diff between "moot" and "mute"?

You guys are my "only offered on t.v." heroes!

Heard from my pretend friend. Got caught up..didn't have her phone...blah blah..

RecknHavic said...

Yes, apparently there's a difference between the two.

Did your faux friend say "We didn't have our phone w/ us and yada, yada".

Still haven't pulled the trigger on the topsy-tirvy tomatoe hanger. I think it's the fact that they claim more nutrients get to the plant cause it's upside down. Pleeeaaasseee!

Linda said...

Ha...they pushed you a little too far, didn't they? But just LOOK at those toms! AND you get the handy tomato cutter thingy! Go for it, and tell me how it works. You can be my guinea pig.

RecknHavic said...

No, but I my try & make one. And whats to keep the insects from climbin up the stand. Do they look at it and go, "I'm not climbin up THAT thing!"

Nestor said...

Perez Hilton's gay? Who knew?

Pajamas TV is a conservative website that offers conservative videos. They also have a youtube channel. The have AlfonZo Rachel (the MachoSauce dude) Joe the plumber, Hugh Hewitt, Michelle Malkin and some other people on there. Some of the vids are good, some are boring. But it's worth checking out.
