Museum Day

Day one was spent doing some museums. Have I mentioned my bro and sil were out there, too? We met up this day....much more fun to do science museums with a science geek. We hit the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum, and the National Archives. Just for the heck of it, I'll take it one at a time. First up....the Natural History Museum! (There was lotsa 'origin of life' kinda stuff. I tried not to think about my Texas friends, but c'mon.)

Heh, heh.

Tony in absolute heaven.

A flower. (You're welcome for the enlightenment.)

The very famous Hope Diamond.

Mesolite the Mineral.

I net it was alotta walkin (upright of course).

Can't wait for the Creation Museum pics!

RecknHavic said...

For fun did you act "suspicious" around the Hope Diamond?

Linda said...

See I thought you more resembled the pic on the top on that wall.

It WAS a lot of upright walking.

Nah, that's all I'll torture you with. I think you get the idea.

Ha! Didn't think a that. I look suspicious generally, tho.

RecknHavic said...

Actually, I think that top pic might be a descendant of aliens. I wouldn't mind seein more museum pics.

You must thread some monument pics!

Say Reck, do me a favor and look at the calorie counter gadget I just added, and tell me if you can see anything I entered or if only I can see it.

Linda said...

Geez! Patience!

RecknHavic said...

Yes it works & it's very cool! I'm gonna use it.

Linda said...

Well, Dave bailed on me, but I'm gonna watch Survivor now. Golly, I feel like I haven't seen it in forever. Not feelin the score thing tonight..I'll do it before Thurs.

RecknHavic said...

Thought yall had seen it. Trust me, the scorin will be a breeze.

Went & hit some golf balls tonite, tho SWUNG at some golf balls would be more accurate. I need practice.

Linda said...

I thought golf was year round for you freaks-I mean Texans. I should go this summer. I will. I just decided.

Linda said...

Ok, time out. Why is it that in EVERY Survivor, there are still people who think they have all of the ultimate control? It kills me. Don't they watch the previous seasons and see how stupid people sound when they get all cocky? It amazes me.

Ok, I'm un-pausing.

RecknHavic said...

Ok, the calorie counter thing is very useful. But what's up w/ Fetchfido?

I know, the cocky ones always get voted out.

I haven't played in awhile & Wailer & I have our father/son weekend comin up in a couple a weeks & he's Mr. Golf.

Click on the hearts that are floating up. I thought it was cute...for a couple days.

Wow, I didn't expect that. Maybe we should include an "emergency medical leave" option in our draft! Oh well. I can't remember who has Joe. It's not me, but I'll look it up later.

Linda said...

That sounds cool. Where do you guys go for the weekend?

RecknHavic said...

I believe Joe is S's, but dbl ck.

Last yr we went to Bastrop. Not sure this yr, but I'm thinkin Vegas baby!

I'll click.

RecknHavic said...

That was fun...for about 3 clicks.

I DO like the NASA thing tho.

Linda said...

I know, I thought the same. Hey, at least I'm TRYING to change things up!

I'm not sure I see you in Vegas. D's been tryin to get me to go. You know..cheap flights, etc. I'm just not that interested. I know, there's good shows and all. I'd probably really like it once I went, but there's too many places I'd rather go. Like the Alamo on Wednesday!

Aw, Jay Leno just gave a shout out to Detroit after his 2 free appearances he did here. He mentioned how there were only 8 security guards.
Guess he's happy he didn't get shot.

One more thing before I hit it. Just watched Billy Ray Cyrus (sp?)do a song on tv. Now...I have no problem with folks who sing and that's it. I get not knowing an instrument other than your voice. However...if you're so uncomfortable in front of a mic that you feel the need to AIR GUITAR (poorly) through the entire song, than I suggest you learn a few chords and strum along. That's all I'm sayin. Ok, gn.

RecknHavic said...

maybe it's his achy-breaky heart. Ow, I hate that song.

It would have been cool if you'd have put a sign if front of the hope diamond that said, "Audacity of".

I've been pretty much out of the loop since my dad was in town. But I should be pretty much back to normal.

On the way back from the airport I heard Mark Levin talking about the Pirate dealy. CNN's Sarah Parker wrote this line and I'm 99% sure that she wasn't joking. "President Obama goes head-to-head with pirates" That's right. The point man on Seal Team 7 was none other President Obama. Apparently he fired the shot that took out the first pirate...oh, wait, no he didn't. He was given a piece of paper by his lawyer on friday evening, didn't sign it and saturday morning signed a different one that authorized force. The problem is, the military was legally required to go in there anyway. If anything the president delayed the rescue of the ship's captain. But the media was surely there tongues-a-wagging claiming that Obama's delayed authorization of a Seal Team to take out some pirates was nearly equivalent to Lincoln leading the Union to victory in the Civil War. Look, thank goodness for the Navy Seals, Delta Force, Special Forces, The Rangers and I suppose the Air Force Search and Rescue, but this is the equivalent of the '92 Dream Team playing Austin's LBJ High basketball team. 4 pirates against a Seal Team. But apparently this makes Obama a brilliant commander in chief.

I dunno. Sounds a little "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Cold, rainy and dark. Think I'll mole out with some candles today. Right now I'm watching people bang on inner tubes (that are tied to their waists) with drumsticks. Very artistic. (rolling eyes). Very Stomp-esque. Come to think of it, that coulda been what it was. On Good Morning America. Which I don't really like, but I had to turn Go Diego Go off really fast before I did something rash and this is where I landed. Diane Sawyer is like nails on a chalboard. Wow, I'm really rambling today and it's still early.

RecknHavic said...

The Audacity Of A Scope, that's the new by-line for our POTUS.

I'm gonna give credit where credit is due; BO said shoot if necessary & we did. Score one for Obama. But it is true, the media is actin like this was Teddy Roosevelt stormin up that hillside.

RecknHavic said...

So, I decide to use your calorie counter to do a runnin ttl of my cals today & riht off the bat they don't list my breakfast item. I woulda thought e1 ate keel for breakfast.

Ok, it was cantaloupe, but still...

Have a good day!

So how was the trip? It looks like you guys had a great time. I'd like to go within the next year. I haven't been in a long time, and my dad's never been there and he really wants to go. I'd like to go and use it as an opportunity to teach American History.

Nestor said...

Hey Reck,

Make sure to post pictures from the Alamo.

Linda said...

The trip was fantastic, and yeah, the kids learned a lot. I'd like to take em back in a few years. They were a little young for some of those museums where there's soooo much reading to do. With family to stay with, it was really affordable.

Linda said...

R, next time have quiche lorraine. That's on there.

RecknHavic said...

Reck doesn't do quiche.

Actually, unless my knee starts feelin, better I may hafta skip the whole Alamo TEA dealio. It's been hurtin me slightly for a few days and I'm thinkin hittin golf balls last nite was a mistake. Today was a struggle, especially goin up & down the extension ladders.

45 s*cks alittle.

Linda said...

He DOES speak in the 3rd person!
Yeah, but it has Swiss cheese and bacon!

Sorry to hear about the knee. I feel your pain. Mine are weak..went thru a problem with tendinitis w/ the patella tendons over the knee caps. I don't think physical therapy really helped, but not pushin em does. (I think I've mentioned this before. Thank goodness you have no memory or I might be repeating myself.) Anyway, tea and Glenn Beck have actually been known to help with knee problems. Just sayin.
