For all you cub scouts out there, this weekend was the famous pinewood derby. Apparently the car has to meet certain specs...it can't just look cool. So when we got there, the registration table kept sendin Dave away with the car. He'd go back to a table..do some work..and try again. This happened twice. The first time it wasn't heavy enough...so he taped a nickel on the back. The second time, not all the wheels touched the track..and as he was trying to adjust them, part of the car broke off. Again...scotch tape is our friend. Ben had that 'I'm trying really hard not to cry here' look on his face.
So the deal is, they race within each troop..the Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Weblos. Then they take the winners of those races and they go to the finals. Well...much to our surprise, the car ROCKED! He came in first within his troop, went on to the finals and came in 2nd! I've never seen a happier Ben. After the race he came running over and jumped in our arms. So cute.

Ours in the one with the nickel!
Couldn't do it without the dads!

Congrats to Ben for his 1st and 2nd finish. That is a cool looking car and a great looking trophy. The pinewood derby is a fantastic event. My son is 9 and we just finished our derby. He finished 1st in his pack and in district. Good luck next year Ben!!!
Awesome! Glad to see D ironed out the kinks. Pretty cool lookin little pinewood too!
I bet B was excited, them's some good braggin rites.
That smile on B's face says it all.
Thanks Reck!
Wow..check out our forecast for Thurs and Fri!!! I'm so excited.
Well done, Ben!!!! Especially in the face of controversy.
Cool! We've been looking for a scout troop for Ryan that doesn't conflict with our schedule, and isn't super far away. Congrats to B!
I'm just wondering though. One of the dads doesn't look too pleased with his son's finish. Probably just snapped the picture at the wrong moment, but it looks kinda funny.
