Really, the colors have barely begun to change, but I thought this one branch turning before all the others was kinda cool. Maybe you had to be there....
That's interesting...My oldest (standing) looks most like my dad, I look most like my mom, and I'm not sure where Don came from (sitting). But he and I have somethin special.
I think the Straight Talk Express is chalk full of Red Bull. It's gotta be...everytime I see him his eyes are open, and that's sayin somethin for an 89 yr. old.
Havin a party tomorrow night. My bro's friend in Indiana who we went to visit this summer is in town, so I offered to have their friends over here for dinner. None of them have been here, so I had to clean the whole dang house in case they want to see it. We're gettin rid of the kiddies, cuz at least the one is stayin the night. Should be fun.
So far so good. I think McCain seemed a little nervous the first 10 minutes, but he seems to have hit his stride. Are they gonna allow a nap break for him half way through?
Speakin a naps, I took one there at the end. Fell asleep in my rockin chair and the kids came in and scared the hell outta me.
Best line..McCain "I looked into Putin's eyes and I saw 3 letters, K-G-B."
Strangest thing on someones lip..Obama. What the heck was that little white round thing that kept poppin up? Did he get his lip pierced? Don't mean yo be petty but it was freakin me out. Felt alttle like a Seinfeld episode.
I don't think there was a clear winner. They both, for the most part, stayed on message. Was too tired (that's the McCain in me) to listen to the pundits. Can only assume they said Obama smoked him.
I concur with that analysis...the anlysis that came from someone who fell asleep in a rocking chair.
Depends on who you're watchin. Gotta say tho, Dick Morris of all people said winner Obama. I just didn't see it. Maybe cuz my expectations of McCain were so low goin in. I mean, he stayed awake!! He wins!!
"I concur with that analysis...the anlysis that came from someone who fell asleep in a rocking chair."
You're on a roll tonite :)
Your bro's pics were cool btw.
Ever had a pear/apple? Eatin one right now. Tastes like its got alcohol in it. I'm serious or I'm really tired. Unfortunitly I gotta work weekend ahead a me.
I didn't see it...working. But one of the guys at work who wasn't busy said he thought it was a draw...and he's a big Obama supporter. He felt like if you were for Obama before, you'd wouldn't have wavered and same thing for McCain. I watched a few clips and McCain was gettin' fiesty for a guy who's 92.
Yeah, it was a draw. Which isn't good for McCain. He needs a win in the next debate. maybe Palin will give it to him in the upcomin VP one. W/ Biden involved it should be entertainin.
I dunno, if the media gave last night's debate to Obama (which they did), can you imagine what they're gonna do to Palin? There's no way they're gonna put a W in her column.
Who cares who the media thinks won? They are going to pick Obama unless he totally flubs it. But if you look honestly at it, you can see clearly. In 2004 I watched or listened to most of them. Kerry clearly won the first debate, the other two were draws, and Cheney made Edwards look stupid in their debate. That's what we need from Palin, she needs to make Biden look stupid. (or hope Biden makes himself look stupid, which is very possible)
I think a lot of people care who the media thinks won. That's how people get their news and make their decisions. Like it or not, it matters to the majority of voters out there.
Usually it has an effect (the media's bias). But not always. McCain alone cannot overcome the onslaught; Palin maybe.
I recall the Reagan/Mondale debates and the media sayn that the election was gonna be REAL close. Ha! Reagan took ALL 50 (57 for Obama supporters) states. And for the record, no matter how often they say Mandale won his home state a Minn, he didn't. Raegan, in a gesture that matched the man, conceded Minn to him.
Fixin to eat us some Chicago style pizza. Eventually we'll try the NY brick oven stuff.
Party goin well? Cops show up yet? It's not a kegger is it?
Still full from the pizza. Figure I gained back most a the weight I've lost last couple a weeks. Since we were in town we decided to stop by the Container Store. What a place. It was my 1st time there. They've got containers for every fricken thing. And trash cans, really cool trash cans. Course ya gotta make as much as a nat'l congressman to afford any of it.
I was just watching this show...this guy was walkin through the areas of the bible. There's this monestary (sp?) in Sinai..I think it's St. Catherines. Anyway, they propose to have the actual burning bush there. And right next to it, mounted on the wall is a fire extinguisher. Made me giggle.
Some of the stories I've heard about the middle east are crazy. The brother who leads (led, he is moving to the states because of immigration issues with his wife) our sister church in Jerusalem said how Muslims in Bethlehem believe that they are safe if Christians are right (which we are) because they live down the street from where Jesus was born.
The brother who led the Jerusalem church before, (but was persecuted by the Israeli government and denied re-entry after going to the states for a family emergency) said that people in the middle east have 'non-alignment' personalities. So they don't like you if you agree with them, but if you disagree then they get along with you. For example if you said the sky is blue, they would say; 'no it's not, sometimes it's gray'
Poor ol' hippies, eh? D and I were talkin about what the editing process must be like for that show. Gotta love the angry wife/sorry husband combo. Nothin like the wife havin the green light to be crabby and the guy havin to take it. Gee, wonder why they picked that couple.
Yeah, she's alittle bitter. Did he ever mention he used to play PROFESSIONAL football?
How about the needy guy. You know, the one who's datin Elaine from Seinfeld (I'm fairly certain it's Elaine)? Come on, give the guy some validation. Geez, what a wennie!
So you're sayn the Jews don't see things in blk & white; they see grey areas. THAT explains the whole, "let's create a terrorist state right next door" thingy.
No, she and oldest want to go on it. My "goal" is to be on Survivor. Or better yet, Deal Or No Deal (what an easy couple a hundred grand that would be).
You mean Asher? See, he never made it back to GB after it went away on his site. The only people who found it was the 4 of us, one gal...can't remember her name and Svet. Then Svet left and on came Lili, and RM talkin about Svet. (weird). Then Helen at Stan's...well that's obvious. Anyhoo..
I'm not interestin enough to be on Deal or No Deal. Ya gotta have a "thing". You could play up the whole Texas/cowboy theme.
Of course, if they got wind of my GB crush, they could go that route. I can see them gettin Beck on the jumbo screen offering me a dinner with him if I gave up the money. D would be screamin "NO DEAL!!!" from the side and I'd run over and do a happy dance on the red button. Wha wha wha....
Well since no politician has had the guts (Besides George W. Bush, though he failed) to take on Social Security we are screwed already. Look at the way the government is handling this whole bank collapse situation, they're just picking up the tab. Republicans were calling for oversight and reform of 2FM and Democrats essentially said that the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" was attacking the CEO.
When traitors like Jamie Gorelick get huge payouts for running a company into the ground it's really sickening. She is someone who needs to be brought up on charges. First for her crimes as Deputy AG and then for her incompetence at FM or FM, I'm not sure which one she worked at.
I counted today. Ya know how many fast food driveways come out to the streets that I take home from Choi? I'll go in order...Wendy's, Arby's, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Subway, Burger King and another Wendy's.
Didn't get to see it (tho S filled me in). Worked late, then homework math help out, then ton a freakin paper work (payn the price for procrastinatin), then p/u thre boy from work..geez, long day.
Mmmm....fast food. I had a salad for lunch today..seriously. Felix laughed at me while he munched his sonic burger. I stole one a his onion rings in response.
I like the way the entire world is blamin us for their financial risk takin.
I say SCREW THEM ALL!!
The artificially inflated prices of real estate need to adjust (drop); this bailout will prevent that. Mind that this (the adjustment) would adversely affect my biz. But it is what it is.
I'm paying the bailout no mind. :) That is to say I'm doing my best to ignore it altogether. I watch too much news..not healthy. So I'm watching a different variety of crap instead. Actually watched Magnum P.I. yesterday! (I know, I know..that's not crap...Magnum rocks...I get it.)
I'm lookin forward to the debate thurs. Was tellin my wife that last nite and that we should consider movin to Alaska and she told move to get over my Palin crush.
Well let's hope she doesn't get "crushed" tomorrow nite.
Hey, question for ya....reg. Indiana Jones...this actually came up at the dinner table last night...T's under the impression that if you drink from the Holy Grail you are immortal. He remembers Indy drinkin from it before he poured it on his dad, so he thinks Indy can't die now. Seems odd to me, but I thought I'd ask you.
Accordin to the legend in the movie you were immortal only if you didn't pass the statue (of one of the knights I believe) at the entrance of the cave. That's why it had the properties to heal his dad's gunshot wound (he was still in the cave).
Hmmm...Senate passed the bill. Those live shots of the Capitol building are brilliant. What a great looking building. Ok, I lied...had the news on all day.
Love this quote from President Palin (ahhh.. that sounds nice..President Palin) when asked in a radio interview about keepin an eye on those that control 401k investments.. "We have to count on the federal government to be overseeing these agencies and entities, making sure that we’re not going to get screwed on this deal.."
Hadn't mentioned this before but we got a momma and juvenile deer out back for bout 8th nite in a row. There's a field behind us and they graze and eventually sack out. They must leave fairly early tho, cause when i take the dogs out in the mornin and sip coffee they're always gone.
I mean, has anyone said to you, 'c'mon...she obviously is NOT ready for this. They're keepin her away from the press for the most part, they're spending all this time prepping her big time for this debate..she looks like she's trying to remember what to say when she does do an interview, etc.'?
Do you just ignore that and think, 'ahhh....Palin.'?
Well, considerin the fair shake she's gotten so far from the press, I'm surprised she hasn't done more interviews.
Been to busy lately to have heard anything bout Palin's interview w/ Katie Stalin..sorry..Couric.
The VP's job is to mirror the views of the top a the ticket. Of course they're preppin her. That's a mistake imho. They should simply let her be her, course then that would expose McCain for the moderate he is.
Here's the thing. It could be Palin or anyone, I simply want someone from the real world. All the "club members" in DC and the press can all go to hell as far as I'm concerned. They've had their chance forever; it's time for real change.
3rd: Well, they have to prep her some...they all go thru that. I think they'll let her be her for the most part. It's most of her appeal. I think McCain's already been exposed.
Give me term limits, a balance budget amendment, phase out entitlements, secure the freakin border, make English the official language, eliminate all tax write offs (yes even for sm biz) and tax everyone at the same percentage, drill anywhere and everywhere we think there's oil, build refineries, build a crap load a nuke power plants, allow manger scenes on public property, school choice for all public school children who want it, pursue enemy combatants across borders, adopt Amendments to the Constitution outlawin gay marriage..gay adoption..flag burnin, try traitorous media for sedition, profile, ban all immigration from terrorist sponserin countries, ban all pornography, set stop gap standards on tv filth, and cheese..plenty a freakin free cheese...
News continues to bash Palin this mornin. Oh, I know, you think she's been treated totally fair (hence your 1st ppg:bs comment).
Well, atleast they picked a fair moderator (there's that word again) to run the debate in the PBS chic Ifill. I guess her former jobs workin for the even handed NYT and Washington Post make her "qualified" in peoples eyes. Can't wait for her book, "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama" which coincidently comes out for release on inauguration day 2009.
Let me quote Stan and just say, "Everything that's up is down and everything that's down is up".
No no. I didn't say she was bein treated fairly..what I thought was BS, was the 'no wonder she's not out there more because the press treats her unfairly'. She oughtta be out there anyway...that was my point on that.
Yeah, I heard about Ifill. Told my brother about it and he called me paranoid. :) He seems to think she'll be fair. Sure would do a lot for her book sales if Obama won, tho eh?
Which bro is it? Tell me it;s not Don (may hafta lose the Pegasus pic). ;)
Well, here's the build up for her book as described by Random House (Ifill's) publisher..
"In 'The Breakthrough,' veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama's stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power. … Drawing on interviews with power brokers like Sen. Obama, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Vernon Jordan, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and many others, as well as her own razor-sharp observations and analysis of such issues as generational conflict and the 'black enough' conundrum, Ifill shows why this is a pivotal moment in American history."
Gee, what a stunnin pivotal broker of fairness she seems to be.
My bad...that's the problem with short Stan answers.
Michelle Malkin was all over this yesterday morn. I'm choosin to remain optimistic and go in w/ no biases toward Ifill. Heck, the Repub. campain oked her. Course that was before they knew about the book. I say they do another debate and have Rush moderate!
The problem is, no matter how fair you THINK you're being, I'm not sure it's entirely possible when you're biased toward a certain ideology. I'll use The View as an example...I'm sure Walters et al think their discussions are fair and balanced...but it often comes across like they're beatin up on the one repub in the discussion. But if you're a left leaning viewer, you probably don't see it that way. I tend to think O'Reilly is pretty fair. My sil thinks he's the right's answer to Olbermann. I'm just not sure total objectivity can be done.
I've been out of the loop for awhile so I hope I don't hit anything that's been covered. Ifill can't possibly be fair, even if she really wants to. Her book comes out in January. If McCain is the one inaugurated in January her book won't sell half as well. She really should step down, just to show that she is being fair. There is a perception of impropriety, and there shouldn't be one in this type of setting.
I may have worded it wrong. Her point is that they're the same..just on opposite sides. I find Olbermann much more obnoxious..that was the point about objectivity.
That's it exactly; the O'Reilly's and Limbaugh's don't get to moderate debates or do the news. Of course Ifill's goin be biased. And the monetary thing (for her) w/ the book comin out is a GREAT point (hadn't even thought a that angle).
But the deck is ALWAYS stacked against the right (in debates, on the news, in pop culture). Always has been, always will be.
And look at I(n)fill(dels) work history: NYT, and Wash Post. Geez, I wouldn't be surprised if she's wearin one a those stripy Obama buttons.
I just hope that Palin gets super aggressive. Take the gloves off for cryn out loud.
She could (when Ifill hammers her on foriegn policy and her lack a experience) point out that Biden does have experience; experience at bein wrong. He was against Desert Storm 1, against SDI (was there anything greater in Reagan's policy that took down the Soviets?), against the surge.
And, I've got the perfect line for her... "You can put hair plugs on a jackass, but it's still a jackass".
Go to customize, click on edit header, then browse for the pic you want.
Now, a pic didn't fit well in my old layout; one a the reasons I switched it. Warnin tho, once you pic another layout (if that's the right term) you can't just go back to the old one and have it be exactly like it was. Tho you can go back through all the choices and set it up again like it was.
Re: pics, I got that one off of google images. Had to right click and select "save as" and added it to my documents. That way when you select browse in the customization of blog you can pull it straight outta your own saved stuff.
Thanks..I was tinkerin around w/ it today...I really don't see a template I like better than what I've got..I was lookin to change it, just for the sake of change. Keepin with the 08 theme and all. So I changed the font. Ooooh! I know, I'm very daring.

Was lookin back at the pic a you & your bro; yall have the same exact smile. Identical.
The one sittin looks like Roy Shreider.

I can be a smart *ss.
That's interesting...My oldest (standing) looks most like my dad, I look most like my mom, and I'm not sure where Don came from (sitting). But he and I have somethin special.
Dogs never really trip, do they?
Does he like leaves too?
And w/ that..gn
Ok, never saw that question comin.
No, I suppose not; unless it's Tommy Chong's dog.
I was makin out with Nick Nolte in a dream this mornin. I could think of better ways to start my day...
Mornin. Sorry to hear that.
I was dreamin a bacon. Mmmm...bacon. So I made eggo waffles and bacon for brkfst this mornin.
Mmmm...breakfast.
Great. You get bacon and I get an old dude.
Yup, regular "rich man poor man" thing.
Looks like the debate tonight's going forward! I'm already nervous.
Me too. All that travelin, late start time, I'm hopin McCain doesn't start noddin. He is 87 ya know.
I think the Straight Talk Express is chalk full of Red Bull. It's gotta be...everytime I see him his eyes are open, and that's sayin somethin for an 89 yr. old.
Sure looks foolish sayn he wouldn't attend tho. It was a dumb gamble, but not that bigga deal, I guess.
Course, at his age, he's probably already forgot about it.
Yes, but have the voters?
Havin a party tomorrow night. My bro's friend in Indiana who we went to visit this summer is in town, so I offered to have their friends over here for dinner. "Gentlemen..it's time to party...Italian style."
I didn't notice the lip thing. Kinda like the red dot on the cashmere sweater George gave to the office cleaning lady?
Fell asleep? During the debate? In your rocking chair? Who are you..John McCain?
Ok, THAT was funny! Yes I'm JM.
I remember that episode. Didn't he get fired for ..um...the cleanin lady?
Yes, never "um" the cleaning lady.
So who do you think won? Or are you too biased to *SEE CLEARLY*?
Straw man :)
I don't think there was a clear winner. They both, for the most part, stayed on message. Was too tired (that's the McCain in me) to listen to the pundits. Can only assume they said Obama smoked him.

Is our government funding this experimentation on fruit?? Cut the spending for the love of pete!!
Too bad about work, Charlie Brown. Hope it's not too tough.
gn!
I didn't see it...working. But one of the guys at work who wasn't busy said he thought it was a draw...and he's a big Obama supporter. Ok, just fact cked the Minn thing. Apparently Mondale carried it by 3000 some odd votes.
Mmmm...Chicago pizza.
(Party in full swing).
I just don't have a good feeling about Thursday's debate. Call me crazy.
Ok, you're crazy.
Palin is gonna smoke him!
Party goin well? Cops show up yet? It's not a kegger is it?
Still full from the pizza. Figure I gained back most a the weight I've lost last couple a weeks.

Yes, party went well. Cops..ha ha. (Actually, I shouldn't laugh. I actually did get ticketed once in college for a party. Noise violation. sheesh)
Container store sounds cool. You walked out without buyin a trash can? Pizza still sounds good.
Now ordering pizza.

Watchin Amazin Race?
Yep, I watched it. Afraid I must sleep now, tho. Catch ya tomorrow..
Party now..pay later or party then..pat now or whatever..

Baiting Lili at Stan's I see. I'm done with that whack job.
Thinkin you and S should apply for that show.
Baitin, ha! Maybe so.
It's possible that the "predator" at GB was the person from Colo that used to call Stan their "pet monkey".
That it was then Svet, how delicious ;)
No, she and oldest want to go on it. My "goal" is to be on Survivor. Or better yet, Deal Or No Deal (what an easy couple a hundred grand that would be).
It's the runnin coach guy.

Still scared?
How could I possibly be, with those wonderful words of encouragement?

You are payin for it for days, eh?
Hey what's the worst that could happen. Besides, this might open up all those vegetable pickin jobs.

Any guess on who's goin home tnite? I gotta say, I didn't dig the S&M Pasadoble thing w/ Kim and the big dude. Judges seemed too, tho.

K, so help me out here. Are you sayin he's not immortal..because...
...because he passed the statue. Then the cave was enclosed in an earthquake, brought on, by the wrath of God.
But of course...how silly of me.
Speaking of knights, or kanigits as you like to call them...I ever tell you that's the middle name of one my boys?
thx for info.
Really? That's cool. Where'd it come from or did yall just like the name?
Off to church, later.
Maternal gma's maiden..she was awesome...and I liked it.
Grandma had a maiden, eh? Kinky..oh..wait...maiden NAME. Sorry bout that.
BS was good tonite; alot a Psalms. I like the Psalms. That David, what a knuckle head.
Who said anything about a name?
You realize Bible jokes are lost on me.
Hmmm...Senate passed the bill. Those live shots of the Capitol building are brilliant. What a great looking building. Ok, I lied...had the news on all day.
Got a joke for your kids.
Two lesbians were walkin down the street and..a..
Sorry, weong joke.
Ok, here it is..
Guy goes to see the doctor. He says, "Doc I keep dreamin I'ma phone. What do I do?"
Doctor says, go home, take this medicine and go to sleep. If when you wake up and you still dreamt you were a phone, give me a ring."
hardy har....
3 legged dog walks into a saloon and says, "I'm lookin for the guy who shot my paw..."
Come to think of it, you could pull off that joke better than I, with the accent goin for ya.
Yeah, I guess the House will cave soon.
I just told it (w/ the accent) darn funny. Seriously, that cracked me up!
President Palin...you are so dreamin.
Just watched "Wild Hogs". Travolta, Tim Allen, motorcycles...not bad actually.
(got a nice fire burnin...45 now.)
Ha! Still baitin Helen. You're the master. At baiting. You're the...best..baiter.
Sorry :)
R rated tonite I see.
We got the air set on 70, it's alittle stuffy.
Hadn't mentioned this before but we got a momma and juvenile deer out back for bout 8th nite in a row. There's a field behind us and they graze and eventually sack out. They must leave fairly early tho, cause when i take the dogs out in the mornin and sip coffee they're always gone.
btw dreams can come true. Join the revolution, say no to Ivy League trained Presidents.
Palin 2012!
Aw..always cool to see deer. A shame they're so skiddish. I feel bad when I scare em away.
Did you see/hear about the Couric/Palin interview? How are you reconsiling the negative talk?
My thoughts...
1st paragraph: bs.
2nd paragraph: totally understandable.
3rd: Well, they have to prep her some...they all go thru that. I think they'll let her be her for the most part. It's most of her appeal. I think McCain's already been exposed.
4th: Perfecto. I'm with ya.
Here;s all I want..
Have I scared ya yet.
Oh, and I forgot. Cher, somethin must be done about Cher.
Yes. You're a scary, scary man.
lol...Cher! Crack me up.
Problem is I can't tell when you're crossin the line into silly. Was it at the cheese??
Well, it is close to Halloween after all.
Manana I'll fill ya in on all the controversial stuff I support ;)
gn
And what the heck's a 'stop gap standard'?
No more ED commercials.
gn again.
Later doll. Hey...don't forget tomorrow's Thursday..need ya'll's picks sometime before start time!
Sorry, I misunderstood.
I say Texas and Alaska secede.
Hey, how do you put a pic on top of the blog like your Aslan? And where do you find the pictures?
I've been out of the loop for awhile so I hope I don't hit anything that's been covered. Ifill can't possibly be fair, even if she really wants to. Her book comes out in January. If McCain is the one inaugurated in January her book won't sell half as well. She really should step down, just to show that she is being fair. There is a perception of impropriety, and there shouldn't be one in this type of setting.
O'Reilly is the right's answer to Olbermann???? Isn't it the other way around?
Regardin the blog pic...
