I did at least a 2/3 water change, scrubbed the algae off of the glass inside, cleaned and replaced the filter parts, vacuumed, and replaced plants.
The syphon is tricky. You have to pump it up and down in the water, somewhat obscenely to get the suction going. Once the water's flowing well, you stick it in the gravel and all the poopy, icky water comes up the tube and into the bucket, while the heavier gravel falls back out into the tank. Mmmmm....thirsty? I bet Survivor Man would drink it.
After the dirty water comes out, of course the clean water goes in. I can't stress enough the importance of TAP WATER CONDITIONER. It's always necessary to use a drop or two of TAP WATER CONDITIONER per gallon of tap water.

Ok, that was funny! I think I get it now, it's conditioner that..uh...conditions the tap water. Do you shampoo first?

I don't want to feed my fish now. If I can keep em from poopin, I won't have to clean the tank for a really long time.

Oldest is home today. Sounds like he's got a touch of what the little one had last week. Not major, but enough to keep him from buyin salsbury steak for lunch at school today. He only buys when it's ss. bummer. I gotta drag him to Choi tho..need 4 classes before I test next weekend.
Poor fella. Lil S home all week (went to doc yesterday as a precaution, did some blood work). She's just run down after havin back to back bugs, but better safe than sorry.

That's a cool looking fish tank. I love fish tanks, but I hate the cleaning part. When we moved to Austin we gave our tank and fish to one of the couples who helped us move. Keeping it clean had become a hassle. But I'd like to eventually get a new one.

Yeah, they certainly require maintenance, but for some reason I feel good about it when it's all done, so I guess the good still outweighs the bad for me. Shoot, we've had it about 5 or 6 yrs. Moving it to a new house w/ out harming the fish was a trick, but we managed.
I got through my Christmas cards today. I still need to run to the post office to get more stamps cuz I ran out. I was glad I didn't have to order new holiday return address labels and seals, cuz I had em left over from last year. (Be quiet.)
I'm mailing 76 today. whew.
And also, due to the hard drive crashing a couple weeks ago, I lost my xmas card list file. I know I should be able to find it, cuz it was backed up, but I couldn't. So I had to re-type it in Excel. (I need Excel, cuz I use columns. You know...name, alphabetically of course, then "sent" and "received" columns so I can put in checkmarks.) What? Too anal retentive?
Oh, I never answered R's basketball question. I was disappointed, cuz I enjoyed Chauncy. But I don't know enough to know if it was a good deal, or how it went down, etc.

Nah, we saw it. Not doin totals tnite tho. It was kinda strange, that whole fake idol, Corrine still getting the votes thing. Too much commentary to type, but obviously the plan didn't work and they KNEW it wasn't going to, cuz Crystal was still voting Corrine making it 4-3 Corrine out. So I don't get the point of Ken voting for Matty. He just could have left it alone and had the same outcome. ? Whether or not the idol was real, Corinne was still going home.
